“Wine & Pasta Weekend”

Seneca Lake Wine Trail
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 20 January 2014

We had a wonderful time at the Wine & Pasta Weekend event. We started on Friday and continued our wine and pasta pairings on Saturday. All of the participating wineries were very welcoming and we happily supported the local economy by purchasing LOTS of wine to enjoy later this year.

For two weekends before Christmas the wine trail hosts "Deck the Halls" Starting Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon participating wineries prepare a food pairing with samples of wine. Thirty wineries participated in December 2013 and we managed to get to 29 of them. The one we missed was because I drove past it and didn't want to turn around. We had a wonderful time, and made friends with others following the trail. We definitely will do it again next year. We live locally so did not need lodging, but many do stay in the area for the event. Definitely recommend this to wine lovers.

The lake drive was beautiful as it was autumn and the leaves were changing... the weather was tremendous and the wineries were awesome... starting with Glenora. what a view.. did the wine tasting there and bought some nice wines. It was a nice drive on a Saturday afternoon in October.

We had a great time touring the wineries around Seneca Lake. This is our 2nd trip to the area to tour the wineries - last trip was about 4 years ago. There were some new wineries, some no longer in business. Our favorites on Seneca Lake this trip were Miles Wine Cellars - really neat old mansion on the lake - wines are great & you get a wine glass with your tasting to take with you; Villa Bellangelo - new owners & they did a lot of redecorating - great view - very friendly staff; Atwater is probably one of our top 2 favorites - the wines, staff, view - all wonderful; Chateau La Fayette Reneau also remodeled from our last visit - loved it!; Ventosa Vineyards is great - they have really great flat bread pizzas & have entertainment on some evenings; a nice surprise was Four Chimneys Organic Winery - their blueberry wine is teriffic!; Magnus Ridge Winery is new from our last trip - open maybe a year - great wine & very interesting gifts, etc - interesting building - definitely will go back!; Rasta Ranch - big barn - 70's theme - nice wines - loved this place - again - will go back to this one!; Ryan William Vineyard - we actually only stopped here because our son's name is Ryan William...small place but the wines are some of the best in the area...this one is a top 2 on our list & we will return!

This is a no brainer if you like wine. There are so many wineries to stop at that it would be difficult to see them all. We enjoyed the informative tours and tastings at several of them. Hope you have the chance to do the same.
