“Great hotel spoiled by petty charge for internet and wi fi”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

My husband and I together with a group of friends went to this lovely hotel as part of an opera festival being held at the foot of Masada. The hotel was offering a package with overnight stay and opera tickets. The hotel is well staffed and well designed making the most of the surrounding mountains and sea.

However there are two areas of concern the petty charge for flakey internet and wi fi connection is silly. Be sophisticated hide it in the room rate.

Secondly the dining room arrangements are a fiasco too many people trying to eat at the same time to go on the coach meant an uncomfortable and stressful dining experience. Why not have two sittings?

Room Tip: Ask for Moab rooms nicer views

True five star experience. It starts with the odor throughout the hotel, continues with the cleanliness of every public space, as well as the rooms, and ends with the great pool and beach facilities.
Unlike other dead sea hotels I stayed at, here every small detail was thought of. They manage to make a giant hotel feel like a personal boutique experience.

Also, I would like to especially mention The Ranch House restaurant's crazy price for Shavu'ot dairy buffet dinner, 350 NIS per person, which when we tasted the food we must confess was well worth its price. Very surprisingly to us (because the price was extremely high) it was exquisite. I have dined there before as an a la carte restaurant, which was excellent, but the level of the buffet really surprised me. Unparalleled to any hotel I have been to in Israel, except maybe 3-4 SPA boutique hotels.

Room Tip: Try to get a room in the top two no children floors, they ask for premium but supply several extra s...

we arrived early and only had to wait a short while for our room to be ready - not a problem as we had booked the Moab floor (executive lounge ) and we waited there until we were able to settle in.Throughout the stay of 2 nights the staff were courteous , the room was serviced in the morning unlike in many hotels when at 3 pm the room is still a mess and the salt water pool was kept immaculate with loads of freely available towels.
Certainly worth staying on the Moab floor as the lounge was comfortable to sit in when the weather outside became rather too hot and the well displayed food was changed 4 times a day. Tea time there were beautiful tiny pastries to choose from and breakfast was also an excellent buffet with seating inside or outside in the shade of the desert mountains.
Even though it was a heatwave we found shade and cool outside most of the day . Only a couple of minutes walk to the private beach and the Dead Sea.
We ate in the Ranch House both nights where the food and service were fine.
Entertainment in the evening was a pleasant diversion , the couple singing on Tuesday 20th May were very good
The check out time was extended to 1 pm as we requested.
Can't wait to go again for a few days perfect relaxation!!

Room Tip: take a room on the Moab floor

We arrived for a over night stay we could not get in our room until close to 6pm. The pool closes at 630 but we were told to leave at 610 they lock there doors. The rooms are dirty stained sheets, mold through out the bathroom A motel 6 is better and they charge close to$400 I do not know how they get away with this. This staff is unfriendly and they hate the place..I spoke to a few staff members and no one stays very long. I asked we would could eat off site they told me McDonalds.
REALLY

Room Tip: There are no good rooms the hotel should be closed down . Pure disgust Americans expect service...

My husband and I visited this hotel mid-week in March. We ordered a package that included breakfast, dinner, unlimited spa access and a 50 minute spa treatment. We decided to upgrade the room to the Moab floor which gave us daily access to the lounge, fruit, a newspaper, robes and slippers.
We arrived early in the morning and checked in. As we have been here before we knew that we could use the facilities. We were told that we would get a call when our room was ready and that if we were in the lounge, our key would be brought up. Note the hotel was not full. Though rooms are promised to be available at 3.00 pm, by 3.15 we still didn't get a call. We happened to be in the lounge and asked the staff to check. They said that the room was ready and that the key is on its way up. We waited and waited. By 3.45 pm we were getting annoyed and asked again. Only then someone ran up.
I have to say that the lounge staff was great; the food served there was good and the options change at 1.00 pm and at 4.00 pm. Note that if you want a cold drink you need to ask for it and they have alcoholic drinks available as well, such as wine, beer etc. just ask.
The second issue I had was at the spa: I had booked a treatment well in advance for 5.00 pm. I got there 10 minutes before and waited. Other people who had booked were called in but not me. After 10 minutes of being ignored, I asked the staff what was going on. Only by overhearing their conversation I understood that evidently the therapist was in a "meeting" and it was taking a long time - they just told me to wait. She eventually showed up at 5.25 and the spa staff continued to ignore me. No one apologized for the delay. The treatment itself was extremely pleasant (I upgraded and took the "Utopia").
Another issue at the spa was a strange smell in the women's locker rooms - it went from smelling like rotten apples to sewage.
The Dead Sea water pool was warm and clean with comfortable lounge chairs beside it. We did not swim outside in the (huge) regular pool nor in the Dead Sea itself because it wasn't warm enough though we enjoyed sitting in both areas.
The food was excellent and there was a nice selection at breakfast and dinner. Soft drinks, beer and wine are included in the dinner buffet, but I found it odd that they had a staff person guarding the wine and beer station. Perhaps they didn't want guests of a certain foreign country who were in the hotel to drink too much. No one was guarding the soft drink machine right next to the wine machine..
Our room was very nice, clean and the bed was comfortable. No robes or slippers were to be seen and we had to call in order to get them. We had a great view of the pool, Dead Sea and Jordanian mountains.
The morning we were supposed to depart we decided to pack up our things after eating breakfast and went to the beach. We came back to find out that our room had been almost totally prepared for new guests! It was quite weird as we hadn't yet checked out. It was a bit awkward, what if we had planned to shower or lay down?
When we travel in Israel we usually stay at the Isrotel chain as their customer service is mostly excellent, the rooms well appointed and the food is great. I feel however that someone should be looking into the customer service at this hotel as it seems that things are sliding a bit.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces the sea.
