“DELICIOUS food and the staff are just lovely”
Reviewed 22 June 2011

My husband and I stayed at the Moevenpick in June 2011. The food was amazing and there was so much variety. The gym and pools were clean and adequate and all staff that we encountered were very friendly and all seemed happy in their work place. The main thing I disliked was the smoking indoors but that's the norm in kuwait. We stayed on the first floor...we had a balcony that overlooked the sea. This room was very quiet. It's a bit tricky finding your way to the gym but we mastered it after a few days!! I.m not sure if it's good value...we were lucky that my husbands company paid for it.

we stayed in Two-bedroom suite , we checked in 6:00 pm and the suite was not ready .
room service was called and they didn't come to clean the room even after 30 hours (NO DND SIGN) There were no towels when we checked in at 6:00 pm,I had none until we calld the front desk 10 times at 1:30 AM ,they came and cleane the rooms my kids were so exhausted :( they slept @ 3:00AM, we have to wake up early because the check out is 11:59 am :S and after all that no one said SORRY 'cuze the manager wasn't there he is off in weedends",the man in the front desk refuse to give us his TELPHONE NO.
The rooms where dusty , dirty and everything was broken,
The safety deposit box in the room was not working.
There were cigarette burns on the sofa , graffiti and stains on the bathroom
you don't get anything until you ask for !!!! for example, towel, tissue papers, soap, shampoo !!!!! and even if u ask for it u will have ti wait for 24 hours !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The management of the hotel needs to be more attentive to the housekeeping function.
Hotel reception and equipment need serious renovation
expensive hotel 405 $ per night ,definately not worth it .
look like a US Motel :S Felt more like a 3 star !!!!!!!

I stayed for 8 nights in november 2010, so not really high season.
I checked in in the middle of the night (airport is not far away and pick-up was perfect) and the staff welcomed me in a very friendly manner.
I got a room with king size bed, flat TV, kitchenette and a nice bathroom.
Although I never cooked, the kitchen seemed well furnished.
The bathroom is very elegant and I just loved the "rainy" shower.
The spa and gym (with a small steam room) are also ok.
Different good and well frequented restaurants are just outside the hotel. I stayed just one night for dinner inside the hotel. Buffet choice was wide, but it's worth to concentrate on the dessert as it was just delicious!
Since I was leaving quite early in the morning, I received breakfast delivered to the room before leaving (free of charge!). Fresh orange juice and "Birchermüsli" to take away: 2 thumbs up.
I have not got any Miles&More points yet, but I don't know if it's their problem.

Coming to the negative points:
After 3-4 days I had to change room because it was really noisy. My neighbours were repeatedly up until 2-3 in the night and because of the bad noise insulation (especially because of the communicating doors) I could not sleep well. After my complaint in the middle of the night, I got promised a new room organized for the day after. Rooms in the surrounding of the parking lot are also to be avoided. I then became a room in the staff aisle and apart of a child during day time, it was calm.
Swimming pool is heated in winter, but not the jacuzzi, which is ice cold.
The beach was closed because some kind of pollution, but the hotel can not be blamed for that.
Unfortunately there is no ATM inside or in the surrounding of the hotel.

All in all a good hotel, with very friendly staff.
If you are sensible to noise, then it's worth to make a call and request a noise-free room: away from parking lot and (if possible) with nobody in the communicating room.
Taking this precautions, I would stay there again on my next trip to Kuwait.

It has being a really good moment for me to stay in movenpick as it has the fantastic room available with them.

Its like a 2BHK apartment with all facility like cooking range, utensils, 2 bathrooms and 3 TVs. This is an excellent room for a family of 4.

But the sad part was pillow and main door locks as they were poor quality.

Brekafast and lunch was good and favouring arabic cuisins,

The outside area is a hotspot in the evening as it has lot to offer for all people.

The hotel is near sea front has lots of activities to be done . Swimming pool was excellent

My wife and i stayed here for 6 nights on vacation, unusual as you don't see too many holidaymakers, it is mostly business people during the week or expats and Gulf residents at weekends.
Check in was somewhat confusing, although i had booked on-line and reconfirmed before arriving, the check in clerk gave us a different rate to the booking and then the wrong room type, this was quickly resolved.
We had a 2 bedroom executive suite in the main building with sea view, there was seperate toilet and additionally both bedrooms had en-suite shower and WC. The toiletries were good and the shower strong and water temperature consistent.
One bedroom had a balcony and sea view, and the living room also had another balcony. Flat screen TV's in both bedrooms and living room, great selection of channels, also a fridge, Nespresso machine and kettle, and complimentary mineral water every day.
There was plenty of cupboard space in both rooms and a further walk-in wardrobe for storing cases, with more shelf and hanging space.
There was also a safe, robes and slippers, hairdryers i can't think of anything lacking.
The breeze restaurant had a fantastic breakfast, the staff were friendly and efficient, food quality and choice superb.
The main pool is also a beach club used by locals and expats, but outside of the weekends (Fri - Sat) is virtually empty, a great pool and jacuzzi, fantastic staff once again, big good quality towels, and a beach bar. There are an additional 4 pools for hotel guests.
The beach is nice, but the water quality in Kuwait is still too poor to allow swimming in the Gulf.
There is also a gym and a Spa onsite.
The lobby bar is also nice and has wonderful selection of mocktails, and Shisha pipes on the terrace.
Right outside the main entrance there are a few restaurants, TGI Fridays, Chili's, Pizza Express, Starbucks, Costa Coffee and a very nice Indian restaurant called Taal, to name but a few.
All the staff at the hotel were great, especially the Concierge and housekeeping.
I would certainly stay here again if we are back in Kuwait.

I stayed here for 3+months during the winter of 2010 for business, and had a very reasonable corporate long-stay rate, which included breakfast (40KD/night). Short stays are obviously significantly more. The hotel is built around a series of courtyards and feels slightly like a US Motel, with parking infrount of the rooms. Your room allocation is critical to the comfort of your stay. I would recommend either a ground floor so that you can walk directly out onto the patio/pool area or the top floor, slightly more quiet, away from the car park, If you do get a topfloor, the patios become too hot during the day to be useful.

The rooms themselves are comfortable, large and most have a small kitchenette. They are comfy, clean and functional, but don't exude sumptious luxury. Sound proofing isn't great, but requesting a room without an "adjoining" one can help. Broadband is availble in the rooms free of charge and WIFI is available in the lobby.

The food at the hotel is decent and they have a nice selection of "Mocktails"/fresh juice. If bored, there are a series of restuarants just outside the hotel gates (Pizza Express, Chili's, Tubleweeds, Starbucks, Chocolate Bar)

The gym is bright and modern and I never had any problems with availability of cardio equipment. There are a series of pools, some of which were closed during my stay, but they are well maintained and functional. Although on the coast, the water is too polluted to swim, but that isn't the Movenpick's fault! Also, occasional smell of sewage is present.

The staff tried very hard to be professional and helpful and after staying at the hotel so long, my preferences and name was well known. Service could sometimes be inconsistent, with turndown service happening only 50% of the time, newspapers not always being delivered etc...but overall very friendly.

Overall comfortable and functional - but not the height of luxury.

I pass by this hotel daily as I go to and from school, yesterday was the first time I actually enter it with a school orchestral trip for a Christmas bazaar. The bazaar took up the lobby of the hotel so the management was much more remote on the hotel than normal. However, the terrace on the beach was wonderful as you passed through the reception of the hotel, you had direct views of the sea which was a bliss. Also, you could see three of the four pools (two adult ones and one child's paddle pool). However, to get from the lobby to the beach takes almost 15 minutes alone as you have to take an elevator to the basement and walk across almost the whole hotel.

The fourth pool was a 140cm one, it was hidden in the gardens where some rooms and suites came out to. All ground floor (basement) suites had direct terraces onto the gardens/pools/beaches ahead.

The school had booked us a Ground Floor standard room which was very spacious. There was a whole triple couch next to the bed plus a business desk and free WiFi in the hotel.

Other than that, check other reviews.
