Pousada Colibri was finally the best place I could choice to spend my last vacation. The hospitality of Helmut and Margha make you thinig you are at home. From there, you can watch to the sea below the hill and also be in touch with nature. My husband and I were ave breakfast and a nice monkey was on the tree, near of us. Moreover, there are too much trees, an amazing view of the sunset. The breakfast is wonderful. I recommend Pousada Colibri to all of you which want a piece of heaven.

We stayed for two nights in this lovely pousada. We really liked the combination of the quietness of the pousada and the liveliness of the island. It is "far away" from the noisy and touristy beaches but at the same time it is only a 10 minute (and safe) walk to arrive there. Owners are very friendly, views are breathtaking, cottages are clean, cosy and well maintained, and breakfast was delicious! Nature is close, with many hummingbirds flying around the pousada.

We would definitely come back when we are in Brazil!

Helmut has created a little paradise on the top of the hills of Morro Sao Paulo. The views over the little village, lighthouse and bay are breathtaking. A nice swimming pool (with a bit salty water, no chlorine), outstanding breakfast (don't try to eat all you get served, it's impossible). For my birthday, the staff baked a cake with congratulations written on it.

Room for improvement? Yes, the mattress of the bed was quite thin and became uncomfortable after a view nights and since we were on our honeymoon...

Pousada Colibri is a perfect retreat for those looking to be close enough to the action to get the full Morro de Sao Paulo experience while still being in nature. Carlos and his mule bring your bags up the 150+ steps to the pousada, which is located on one of the highest points on the island. Once there, you can relax by the pool, play card games in the restaurant/bar, chat with fellow travelers (mostly German), or laze on your porch hammock. We had 8 members of our group, four in bungalows and four in apartments, and we couldn't have been happier. One Love, a reggae bar with live music and good caiparinhas, is nearby and it is a relaxing place for sundowners. The main town is a 5-10 minute walk away, and praia 2--the main beach--is about a 15 minute stroll down the sandy lanes. The rooms are spacious. The beds have mosquito nets. There is a family of small monkeys you can feed on the grounds. The owners are great. All in all, it is a welcoming, friendly, clean, and beautiful place to stay. I could not recommend it more highly.

I had such a great time in Morro de Sao Paulo and at this lovely Pousada that it's now hard to find the right words describing it. It's runned by a german couple, Helmut & Marga, who are really really friendly. As it's located on a little hill, there are plenty of stairs, but if you see once the view, it's worth it!! This view is absolut fantastic! I'm still missing my hammock there and this georgous pool. Marga organized almost everything for me - the horsebackriding trip, the transport by boat and even all of my taxi rides in Salvador and this for a very good price! As the Pousada is called Colibri, there are so many of them and also little monkeys which you can feed with small pieces of banana.
It still feels like heaven when I remember being there. Special thanks to Marga for making my stay unforgettable!

Having travelled over the world and visited a great number of hotels, Pousada Colibri is ONE of my all time favorites as well as for my wife and even my daughter of seven. This hotel is managed as a small hotel should be managed. Congratulations Helmuth & Marga Bauer and staff of course with your outstanding product. See you next year.
