We stayed at Villa Mato Verde for three days in December. We knew nothing about it, except what we could gleam from their website. It turns out, it's a charming pousada (Inn), with little rooms, almost cabins. The little restraurant is quite good, they make potent drinks and the breakfast (included) is yummy. The owner, Sandra, is fantastic, it feels like visitng family (in a good way). The pousada has a small but nice pool and it's literally 50 meters from 4th Beach in Morro de Sao Paulo. The hitch is that 4th beach is quite far from where all the action is, which is 2nd beach (whic is about a 45 minute walk by the beach). The Villa provides transportation to and fro, but it's not always reliable and generally runs only every two hours. There are no cars allowed on parts of the island so the transportation is generally a sand buggy or a horse and cart. Sometimes, there's a truck. If you don't mind being a bit far from the action, this Inn is the place for you.
