I love to travel around the world. But it is so dificult to know a place like the Patachocas Eco Resorts. The place is so amazing, the staffs are so fantastics and very polite. I'm very happy of visit the place. Very good and I hope that i come back the quality continue like as is.

The resort is located in the middle of trees and grassland close to the beach. Inside, the hotel is like a parc with several bungalows spread out on it. It seems to be one of the best hotels on the island. It was very calm and with only few guests at the time of our stay (mid February). It seems, however, to be very crowded during brazilian holiday time when a lot of rich brazilians stay there.

The sea is like in several other places in the more nothern parts of Brasil. The difference between the tides is significant. The reef appears during low tide and taking a bath is impossible. During high tide the beach almost disappears. If you are looking for beach holidays, its is probably not the right thing unless you do the boat trips offered at the hotel and in the village. There are also several other trips available such as a jeep tour on the island.

The hotel is about 2-3 kilometers from the village center. It is about 30-40 minutes by foot along the nice beach. You can also take the horse carriages (also at the beach, not very cheap), quad taxis (taking the inner roads, also not very cheap) or the nostalgic hotel bus (for free). Cars are in general prohibited on the island which is a nature protection area. The village is small and nice with a number of restaurants, some good quality and some a bit lower standard. The village seems to be a party location for young people and backpackers during certain times of the year. Therefore, the hotels/hostels in the village are rather low quality and I saw only very few nice places to stay on the 3rd and 2nd beach. I could not make out a nice place to stay on the 1st beach/village center which was the reason we went to the Patachocas.

Do not expect pleople to speak English any European language. Like in many places in Brazil, people will only speak Portuguese with a few exceptions (also at the Resort). Bring sufficient cash to the island as most restaurants won't accept credit cards (but for the better ones). There are also only two or three cash maschines of which only one worked with my credit card.

Diving is possible. There are two diving stations, one located at beach no. 2 and one in the village. I had a better impression of the station in the village/beach no. 1 (on the main road coming from beach no. 3 and 2 to the central place, just at a small place) which seems to be better equipped than the one on beach no. 2. The dive guides were from several countries (e.g. Australia, Germany) and therefore spoke English and German. The dive centers are, however, barely open during low season there and you have to be lucky to find somebody there. Diving is average there and the view not comparable to the read sea for instance.

You can get to the island either by catamaran ferry from Salvador (about two and a half hours) or by plane from Salvador (roughly 30 minutes). We took the plane and it was quite an adventure to land on the empty runway in the middle of the jungle. it is a small airplane for eight passengers and you can observe everything the pilots do.

I found it a very relaxing stay in the Patachocas. It may not be ideal for everybody (distance to the village or "lack of water" during low tide). However, outside the holiday period it is very calm with few guests and therefore an empty pool and a restaurant where you always find a seat. You then get the feeling to stay at a lonely beach with palms until the edge of the beach. For a few days, this is great.

Great place, good infra, great comfortable rooms... very good food... right on the white sand beach, what else do you need in this fantastic tropical island? Bring great company and it will be all perfect ;-)

I just did not put 5 stars because of their "slow" service...if you expect a very efficient service don't go to Morro SP- this small island in Bahia - Brazil. But if you are usually content in your vacation, relax and enjoy your time while your drink takes a bit long to make to your table. But let me explain well...I WILL be back...it is still phenomenal location....better them Hawaii for me.

cons: terrible quality of service, pool cleaning, transportation to second beach (the hotel is located at 4th beach far from the best beaches and nightlife); The bus is also an adventure - an old 20 yr old bus carrying 20 people, falling into pieces running into an offroad trail.

pros: relaxing beach (almost a desert) - a romantic view; good vibe with music - for kids in swimming pool and realaxing/fun almost time; Nice bed in "bangalôs";

result: I am angry to see many tourists to come here and have this experience - in Brazil you can find better places with honest prices - when you arrive Morro, walk around to 2nd beach and choose you hotel. I made reservations in advance and I am disappointed.
