An amazing vividly green lake about 2 miles across and wonderful hiking done to the surface or around the rim. Otherworldy - and the views of the paramo on the road to it were breathtaking as well

This made a great trip out of Quito to see the surrounding countryside and marvel at the Corredor of Volcanoes. Up until about 9 am we had clear views of Cotopaxi.
We stopped for half an hour at a local food market which has not yet become touristy - good chance to sample local fruits.
Quilotoa was stunning. We had just over two hours to ourselves at the volcanic crater lake which was enough time to wander of a little and marvel at the tremendous views.

Beautiful walking trip with my partner and family. We enjoyed walking down and up the lake. The view is stunning and you will not regret traveling.
I do recommend you go down in the morning as you will get normally sun and will be warmer and the views are beautiful. Coming up is hard due to the heigh but you can do it slowly.

Beautiful lagoon worth the visit. It was definitely a bit of a trek to get to (approx 3 hrs from Quito) and about 30 mins to walk down, but definitely a cool spot. Once down you could kayak in the lagoon and hang out with some horses too! The trek back uphill took nearly an hour, so you need to be in decent shape to handle the ascent (or take a horse for 10 dollars).

Well worth the drive, we arrived in Quilotoa and had a lovely lunch at the cafe, drank come coca leaf tea to help with the altitude and then walked a short distance for the overlook of the volcanic lake. What views! The color of the lake changed with the clouds and sun. I wish we had had enough time to walk down to the lake. Our guide said it would take about 45 minutes to walk down and then you could pay for a donkey ride back up or walk one and a half hours.
