Great place to stay as a base to travel about , everything you need in the cottages (just like being at home) Great hospitality by Andy nothing was too much trouble.
A most enjoyable and relaxing Gite holiday with everything required for a comfortable self catering experience available in Lavender Cottage. Our host Andy was terrific throughout our two week stay and spoiled us with a delicious arrival dinner, comprehensive and generous starter pack of food & refreshments and surprise pastries each week. The location is ideal for peace and tranquility in the French countryside with Vines all around.
One week in June wasn't enough. Could've stayed here forever. This gite was the best we've ever stayed in, with gorgeous furnishings, a perfect patio & a lovely small pool to plunge in out of the heat. Andy, the owner, can't do enough for you including providing a full meal on arrival as well as fridge necessities. The view of the St Emilion vines all around you is superb & the wine buying potential is endless & delicious. Lovely local restaurants all within easy reach - we could cycle to our favourite in Puisseguin in five minutes. And the delightful Sydney, guard cat, on duty. What more could you possibly need? Everything you could possibly want is provided & more. We will definitely return!
We (two adults and a toddler) booked in to Lavender Cottage over 9 months ago, and before we have even arrived we have to say that we were extremely impressed with the communication offered by Andy (host).
Upon arrival (having been provided with excellent directions) we were met and showed to our cottage by our host. Well, to say that Andy has thought of everything feels like a disservice, rarely have we stayed in accommodation where the host goes over and above to the level that Andy chooses to.
We were treated to a two course welcome meal, as well as basic provisions (okay, maybe beer and wine don’t count as basic..!) and the first night was a breeze as a consequence. Further treats arrived during the week too, you will be looked after!
The cottage itself is very well thought through, two large bedrooms, a bathroom (separate shower and bath) a toilet room, and a lovely kitchen, dining room and raised level sitting area. It’s presented to a very high standard.
Outside, there’s a private terrace with plenty of seating, and magnificent views over local vineyards - no better place to spend a sunny evening with some local cheeses and wine, and just drinking in the view.
For the antisocial amongst you, Sky TV is provided. For parents, CBeebies is available and we drew on this resource often! There are also a few board games provided if you fancy a family disagreement(!)
The pool is perfect, and don’t be put off by the ‘shared’ tag, there’s plenty of space! Also, if you are a parent of a young one, and worried about security around the pool, it is secure and you can segregate your courtyard garden from the pool making it impossible for little ones to get to the pool without you there.
Special mention has to go to the host, Andy. He helped shape the first week of our French adventure with his remarkable cuisine, lovely welcome, and if we head back this way again, Lavender Cottage will without doubt be our first port of call.
We had 8 nights with our 2 families meeting together from far away at the Lavender Cottage and enjoyed immensely our stay.
Our hosts were very hospitable, warm, informative and friendly. We were treated in a first rate manner, received upon arrival with a lovely dinner, and lots of laughs...
We are definitely returning in St-Emillion region and will be reserving with Lavender Cottage. It is a must!
