“If perfection exists, you will find it in one of the 3 Vines & Roses Cottages!”

Before joining friends in Sarlat for 3 weeks, we decided to do an earlier arrival for a little R&R in the vines surrounding St. Emilion. Upon finding the Vinesetroses listing with its seventeen five-star reviews, I knew my search was over. As lovely as the photos are, they simply do not do justice to the charming cottages and their patios as well as the meandering, very quiet walkable paths through the vines. Upon arrival, we found a spotless cottage with all the basic necessities as well as a baguette, French onion soup, yoghurt, wine, beer, oj, tea, butter, coffee, milk, and Camembert. Andy gave us a quick briefing and a wonderful booklet entitled "Rose Cottage" which explained the various appliances (laundry detergent, dishwasher and dish detergent supplied), listed restaurants and places to see, as well as many links.

In our conversation, I mentioned that I was celiac, and what should appear the next day but a delightful lemon Souffle cashew/macadamia cake--gluten free, of course. Another day, an incredible gluten free orange bread was left compliments of Chef Richard !

Another part of the trip that we enjoyed tremendously was walking the vines. Incredible chateaus, cuckoo calls, beautiful purple, yellow, pink, and white wildflowers surrounded us as we watched the afternoon and morning light dance on the fields. The alternative wast to hop in the car for a five minute drive to get our walk in on the bustling paths of St. Emilion.

As we drove to Sarlat, we searched for words to tell our friends about our most unusual experience and finally decided that the only way to describe our experience was to say that we felt that we had gone to housesit for friends in a foreign land and that although our friends were gone that their best friends were there to help us as much or as little as we needed.

THANK YOU Andy and Richard! We are so grateful to you for a lovely, restful holiday that enabled us more readily to see the beauty that surrounds us and to become healthier day by day. See you next year!

“Ideal location for a relaxing break. Beautiful property.”

This property was much more than we expected. Immaculate, comfortable, well furnished and equipped with all you'd need. Perfect getaway location for a couple. The welcome pack and evening meal was fabulous and very generous indeed. Andy took us on an informative and thoroughly enjoyable wine tour where we met some very interesting wine producers and had a fantastic lunch out in the most unsuspecting cafe! A must for anyone who visits the area. We had some yummy cupcakes delivered whilst we were there, baked by Richard. Yet another thoughtful touch from the owners who are always very obliging and helpful. We went in May which was excellent value and still some good warm sunshine. Quiet and relaxing but with many places to visit nearby. Nearest village, Montagne, was very beautiful indeed. Would love to go back again.

“Absolute Top Accommodation”

Having previously stayed in the region 2 years ago we were keen to try a different property. We picked Vines and Roses (Rose Cottage) from TripAdvisor reviews and I must say, everyone is absolutely correct. This place is well worth the perfect 5 stars rating it has to date. The communication with Andy during booking and prior to arrival was smooth and prompt. On arrival, Andy showed us through the property and then gave us many new ideas on what was around the area to see. The welcoming dinner prepared by Richard was terrific and very much appreciated. The fridge was also stocked with enough for breakfast and more. The location is only a 5 min trip into St Emilion and also only a short distance to supermarkets and some fantastic restaurants. It is in the middle of vineyards and there are plenty of options for tasting close to hand. We can highly recommend this place to anyone contemplating the wineries of the St Emilion or Castillon area.

It was a luxury place to stay, Andy and Richard provided us with a lovely dinner that was enough to also feed one of us the next day. Andy was warm and friendly (didn't get to meet Richard) and very helpful. There were books to borrow, a lovely private courtyard to sun ourselves in. You will need a car to get around. The directions were good. I got to see some British television. The pack with bread, cheese, wine and biscuits were a lovely touch and there were also things like milk, butter, oil and cooking utensils there so we could cook for ourselves too.
A very enjoyable part of our holiday. Thanks Andy.

“Another perfect stay”

We were back again for our second visit - fabulous hosts, fabulous accommodation and in great location, close to St Emilion (less than 10 min drive). Small village Lussac is just down the road (a good quiet road to run there & back as well - if you're the running type).
Any of the 3 cottages are good - we've now seen all 3 of them and over the course of 4 weeks.
It is a luxury stay with a great kitchen, a pool and space to chill out.

Thank you for another great stay Andy & Richard!!

“Perfect, vines as far as the eye could see”

The pretty Rose Cottage was spacious and well equipped, with a terrace over-looking the pool. This caught the sun most of the day and was ideal for evening barbecues. We were made very welcome and, Andrew was a charming and attentive host. The setting is beautiful and tranquil (except on the annual St. Emilion Car Rally day!), an island in a sea of vineyards. We used it as one of our bases for our wine tour of Bordeaux. Take a visit to St. Emilion - the monolithic church, the church tower and the bus (NOT the train) tour of the vineyards are a must. The city of Bordeaux is well worth a visit, park in the underground alongside the river. Don’t bother with the bus tour, the walk around the city is much more rewarding and, for the wow factor visit L’Intendant wine shop on Allee De Tourny (near the Tourist Office), a ‘spiral cathedral of wine’. When wine buying, don’t forget to compare the vineyard prices with caves, co-operatives and supermarkets, or use www.wine –searcher.com as a guide. To compliment the wonderful wine, treat yourself to some decent wine glasses, such as ‘Gabriel Glas’, we bought ours from La Grande Cave in St. Emilion. Finally, take advantage of Andy’s personal knowledge and go on his wine tour, an amazing experience, an amazing day.

I think the title say's it all!! The owners Andy & Richard must be so proud of this place called heaven, It was very comfortable, clean and wonderfully set out. We couldn't believe the welcome pack of three course meal, wine, cheese, butter and bread. Andy & Richard were always available but not under your feet like some owners I've experienced, we stayed in the Rose Cottage which was ideal for a couple it was spotless and comfortable. We will defiantly be returning in the near future
