“Luxury accomodations in lovely vineyard setting”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

Le Pavillon Villemaurine on the edge of Saint Emilion is an elegant but casual inn. The inn sits in the middle of a vineyard within 2 or 3 minutes walking to the main street in Saint Emilion. The interior decorating of the common living room and breakfast room is elegant and comforting at the same time. Our room, the Soutard Suite, was a beautiful very large room with fantastic views, a huge bathroom and a separate large shower room (the whole room is the shower!).

The owners Nikki and Julian make every effort to assure their visitors' comfort. Nikki was very clear in all her pre-visit communications with me, including making suggestions for our visit to Saint Emilion. She also prepares the lovely and extensive expanded continental breakfast each morning (she even made breakfast extra early for us the day we needed to leave early to meet our guide). Julian welcomed us with open arms when we arrived, helped us get our car parked in their nice little parking lot, dragged our luggage up to our second floor room (no elevator) and, once we were settled, offered us a glass of his own wine - to help get us in the mood. Julian was also very helpful making suggestions, and reservations, for restaurants. He also arranged a visit for us and one other couple to Chateau Guadet whose wine caves (literally caves) are in town and whose vineyards we overlooked from our bedroom.

Between the elegant but casual feel of the B&B and the welcoming helpful efforts of the host and hostess, we felt that our visit to Saint Emilion was very special.

Its all been said before and I can only endorse the other reviewers comments. Great property in a brilliant location in St Emilion being a short walk into a wonderfully picturesque town with some fantastic restaurants and Bistros.

Our hosts Nicky and Julian were exceedingly accommodating and helpful with restaurant recommendations etc. Its so much better to stay in this kind of establishment where you get truly personal service rather than a large sole less hotel.

We booked a wine tour with Julian, who’s enthusiasm and charisma is positively infectious. It was a great way to see the area and visit a couple of smaller family run winery’s where we received a personal tour and tasting. Highly recommended.

We were on our own independently planned wine themed road trip, which started with a sailing on Brittany Ferries from Portsmouth UK to Santander in Spain. We spend a few days in the Rioja region, followed by St Emilion and the Loire Valley, returning via Calais. A highly recommend agenda.

Our hosts Nikki and Julian epitomise an entrepreneurial couple who have worked hard to achieve the success of a dream B&B located in a dream place like Saint Emilion.

A car park right next to this B&B awaits you if required.

The welcome we received from Julian for our 2 night stay was exceptional.
We had requested a ground floor room, however, upstairs would surely have provided some great views.
Our room itself was exceptional, a most comfortable bed with all conveniences including even a remote controlled air conditioner (a rarity in many accommodation places in europe) a real plus on some warm summers days.
A Nespresso machine is available in each bedroom.
The en suite has everything including some luxury toiletry products to spoil you.

The breakfast room offers still and sparkling water and wine (made by Julian) for scoffing day or night outside on lounge suites situated near the vines.

What can one say about the daily breakfast prepared by Nikki. So copious with absolutely no skimping!!! Muesli, Yoghourt pots, fresh fruit salads, ham slices and cheeses, smoked salmon, daily fresh baguette bread and croissants with butter and jam, fruit juice and tea or coffee.
The breakfast is so copious in fact, you are unlikely to need lunch if you are a late starter.

One cannot over emphasise the willingness of Nikki and Julian to help their guests and the dedication they show to their B&B business is the very reason why one needs to book early to secure a room at Le Pavillon Villemaurine well in advance rather than by chance.

My wife made the booking for our 2 night stay in Saint Emilion. According to her, she chose this particular establishment "hands down" due to ALL things considered and due to this B&B being situated at the top of the main street and in close walking proximity to everything and of course, the breakfast certainly did not let us down.

We thoroughly recommend Le Pavillon Villemaurine.

Room Tip: All rooms excellent but the tip is to try and book early!

I stayed for one night at this B&B and wished I could have stayed longer! The bed was comfortable, the room was large, and our hosts were wonderfully helpful. They even dropped us back to the train station to head back to Bordeaux, free of charge!

The things that make this place excellent are:
There is always bottled water (cold), fresh fruit, cake, tea, coffee, and the B&B's own wine available, 24/7.
There are maps and pamphlets available and the hosts are very knowledgable and happy to help with directions.
The breakfast is perfect with cereal, fruit, yoghurt, bread, tea and coffee etc. I wish they did porridge (because I was missing it) but I loved what they had :)
The room is nicely decorated and we loved the luxury magazines.
The location is beautiful, just a minutes walk to the centre of the village, but around a corner so you feel like you're really living in the middle of vineyards.

This place was so perfect I can't wait to return!

Le Pavillon is the perfect place to stay in St Emillion. The elegance of the facade is matched by the very fine decor inside. It really is luxurious - both cosy and grand at the same time. Quite an achievement for the hosts who aim to provide all you could ask for a perfect wine-flavoured stay. We had to leave before the usual breakfast time for our flight home and Nikki made sure breakfast was available - which I have to say was the best breakfast we had in Bordeaux. Really tremendous.

We stayed 2 nights and would thoroughly recommend it- if you are looking for a romantic and interesting week end break, this would certainly fit the bill. The rooms and bathrooms are large and sumptuous. (we were in Villemaurine) The general areas immaculate- the free wine a bonus! Julian and Nikki very keen to ensure you have a good time, and learn about wine. Great to be a short stroll from St Emilion, which is very pretty indeed. It has the standards of a first class hotel without the fussiness and formality.

Room Tip: We had Villemaurine. No complaints. It can be a bit disconcerting to arrive and see the town car par...

100% of excellent reviews does not do this hotel justice! Beautifully decorated and provided for throughout, the quality of everything here is superb. Julian and Nikki cannot do enough for you and the attention to detail is outstanding. Fantastic wine available on the house, the best breakfast we had in Bordeaux and generally as high a quality as any hotels stayed in at much higher cost too. Perfectly placed to enjoy St Emilion on foot and the locality by car.
Only downside is a lack of pool as it was very hot!
