“Wanted to stay longer! Loved it!”
Reviewed 25 July 2014

Rooms were large and comfortable! Service was excellent and we were not an easy group, as one of our family had some mobility issues. All of our needs and desires were met. We dined at the chateau and found the meal and service awesome in the evening as well as the morning. The owner and staff were very courteous and helpful. It is well situated to explore this great area of France. When in the area again, will be staying there for longer! Perfect stay! Local area provides a lot to see and great places to dine!

Room Tip: Had rooms on both main floor and second level - all great!

My partner and I stayed for two nights at the Château de Reignac to see whether it might be a suitable venue for our upcoming wedding. We received a warm welcome from the owner and given a full tour of the château which certainly has the potential to be a 4-star luxury hotel, however the overall experience was more like a 2-star B+B.
In summary, since we were the only guests, the restaurant was closed despite the fact that we'd reserved a table for dinner. There was no bar for a relaxing cocktail after our long drive to the Loire, in fact, there was pretty much no staff whatsoever; the receptionist doubles up as the wedding planner, hotel manager and serves the breakfast in the morning! Regarding reception, it's only manned during the day, when we arrived back on the second evening we had to let ourselves in through the 'security' door, a basement door with no lighting outside that is around the back of the château!!! Breakfast on the first morning was effectively the last straw for us; stale croissants and cheese with extra furry bits which came at the bargain price of 16 EUR per person. The rooms are charming, however the lack of mini-bar, television, tea and coffee making facilities added to our frustrations, after all they charge 4-star luxury château rates. Hair on the pillow, dead flies on the floor, dirty carpets, chipped paintwork, toilet rolls in a basket next to the loo and green fungus under the rim ... helps complete the overall picture.
We visited four other château in the region over the weekend and this place was definitely the exception rather than the rule. Will we be holding our wedding at Château de Reignac? Absolutely not.

My husband and I hosted our wedding there on 24 May 2014 and our stay, from start to finish was an absolute dream. The chateau is breathtaking to look at - it brought tears to my eyes - and Erick (owner) must be commended for his spectacular restoration of the interior. The rooms are each beautiful with their own personality and the Chateau itself has a homely feel but is tasteful and immaculate at the same time. We rented the whole place for the weekend to accommodate family and friends for our wedding and we had a hard time leaving and getting our guests to do the same!
Erick and Francoise (manager) make you feel like family. For our wedding no ask was too much - I didn't need a wedding planner because I had Francoise to help me with everything - she organised the florist, DJ, make up, hair, catering, fireworks - EVERYTHING! And it was superb. Our rehearsal the night before was prepared by Erick himself, and he can add fabulous cook to his resume too because it was delicious. The nearby town of Loches is a delight as well.
We had the best day of our lives there and I cannot wait to go back - hopefully for our first anniversary! Not just to visit the place but to see the owner and staff again, we really all felt like family.
I want to thank them so much for everything and highly recommend the Chateau if you want a dream wedding. It is a truly magical place and I feel so privileged to have been able to celebrate our special day there.

My wife and I just finished an amazing 10 day trip in France. During this trip we stayed for 7 days in Paris and 3 in the Loire Valley here at the Chateau de Reignac.

Our 3 days at the Chateau were definitely the highlight of our trip! From the moment we arrived the staff at the hotel made our stay magical. Our room was super clean and the perfect mix of modern and historic. The room had massive windows that we would open and leave open all day and night listening to the quite town and birds.

Breakfast was wonderful and fresh. We felt like it was set up just for us thanks to their wonderful and attentive service:) Every night Francais reserved a table for us at amazing local restaurants! We literally only had to wake up and hop in our cars, the hotel staff did everything else for us. The owner Eric is very kind and the overall staff of the hotel are just out of this world and helpful.

The grounds are beautiful and I would spend mornings walking and reading under the large trees. What's also great is the hotel is centrally located to most of the incredible Chateaus in the area. You really can't find a better place to stay if you're visiting around Amboise, Loches and surrounding areas.

Such a relaxing and magical time! We're coming back next year and highly recommend you book your stay here too:)

Room Tip: Grab dinner at La Couture which is about 10 minutes away. The hotel staff will make you reservation...

This is one of the best vacation experiences we've ever had, and we travel a lot. The Chateau is gorgeous, the renovation beautiful. Our room (we had the family suite) was stunning, the bathrooms were clean and completely modern, the room decor lush and period authentic, just lovely. Rooms were large with very high ceilings and beautiful views. Most especially, the service was truly outstanding!! Erik and Francoise saved our entire trip (without exaggeration) to the Loire by rescheduling a hot air balloon trip that was cancelled by the company we had first booked in with--I have wanted to do that my whole life and they made it happen. They called and called until they were able to find us another company operating larger balloons (it was slightly windy) and got us in that night. Similarly, they helped secure us a car when the rental agencies were sold out and found us a way back to Paris during a multi-day train worker's strike. They even called the hotel in Paris to let them know we'd be checking in a bit late due to the trains but would be there so not to give away our room! The Chateau itself has a wonderful history, to call it a "hotel" is totally missing the point, it's a beautiful castle in the French countryside. The breakfast buffet was very good with local sourced ingredients, some from the grounds themselves, and the rest of the staff was also very friendly. We've stayed at many wonderful and iconic hotels and this is one of the best all-around experiences we've had--thank you again to the team at Chateau Reignac for a magical visit!

Room Tip: The family apartment is stunning--with the ability to completely close off the two rooms at night an...

We just checked out today en route to hotel royal in Lyon but we are missing the Chateau Reignac already. The ambience brings you back to the Barberin years but with a nouvelle touch of our century sweetly served by Francais and personally toured by Eric who owns this 13 hectare property since 2001. As expected the antiquity favors side by side with the serenity which all the more will bring us back to this place very soon. Vouvray and Amboise are conveniently near for the best wines of the Loire along with Da Vinci's Clos de Luce.
Bravo!

I booked this hotel as a birthday gift. In fact there has been a surprise, but not a pleasant one!

We were very disappointed - the hotel is rather a below avarage B&B than a "luxury Chateau-hotel". We visites Les chateaux de la Loire for a week or so and it was our worst experience - all guestrooms and 2 stars hotels we stayed in were to a great extend better for less than a third of the price.

First and foremost it was DIRTY! Our room was the one under the roof, a Prestige room, but not only it wasn't worthy of its name, it was disgusting. Especially the "cleanliness" of the bathroom. Actually we haven't had a bathroom, but a bath in one end of the room separated by a glass partition. The bath itself was quite dirty, as well as the floor around it; the washbasin a little less.
The bed was big, but not very comfortable. No duvets (for a 4 star hotel!), but old and smelly blanquets. That was my general impression of the room - a bit icky.

On a positive note - the dinner was correct. The person doing the check-in, carrying the luggage to the room, serving the apero and then serving the dinner in the restaurant, was nice and friendly, even though obviously overloaded.

In a nutshell do not have big expectations and don't believe the misleading (and BTW very well done) web site. The value for the price it is definitely not worth! I consider myself lucky not to have taken one of the advertised packages - Romantic escape or Charm, luxury and beauty, as I've initially intended to do.
