We just returned today from our stay at Hotel Rebstock. I made a last minute reservation for our family of 6 on the hotel website. Herr Dorner was extremely friendly, both in emails and upon our arrival. Everything was exactly as I expected. The room was very clean and was large enough for all of us, the price was reasonable, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, a nice breakfast was included (great coffee and they even a children's breakfast buffet!) and the walk to Europa Park was less than 10 minutes. We would most certainly stay there again. Now, to comment on the previous posters' reviews. I know exactly which groups these people were with! It was hard not to notice the loud group of teens (or were they older, as several were drinking?) that had taken over the entire downstairs rec room/kids play room and flowed out on to the outside terrace where my husband and I with our four children were eating dinner. Some of the group were sitting at a table with Herr Dorner and prior to their departure were overheard thanking him profusely for such a nice stay and also gave him a gift!!. As far as the other accusations go...we did serve ourselves breakfast and dinner (it was a buffet!), left our dishes on the table afterwards, were always greeted nicely, our room was always clean and tidy when we returned, none of our furniture was broken, and shower gel/shampoo were provided for the length of our stay. No one told us to get lost or made us feel unwelcome. We ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel for two days. Pizza, a variety of salads, fresh asparagus, asparagus soup and pasta were a few of the things our family ate that did not include meat. We checked out of the hotel this morning and conveniently left our car there and headed to Europa Park. Upon request, the staff happily provided us with ice cubes to fill our ziploc bag so we could keep our waters cold in the park. Herr Dorner even gave us bottles of water for our trip home. The only minor drawback is the lack of a/c. It is Germany and it's not a US chain hotel, so totally expected. Leaving the window open at night worked for us (we weren't in the room during the day anyway). A fan might be a solution, but we didn't feel the need to request one so I don't know if they have them available. Overall, we had a great time and I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family. This is a great family owned, family friendly hotel which will undoubtedly treat their guests with the respect and courtesy that they receive!! But most adults already know this!!!!!!!

I don't even know where to start. The Worst Hotel I Have Been Too ! From the 13-19th July we (a school party with teachers) were staying at Hotel Rebstock, and I have to say, it is the biggest mistake that we had ever made. Firstly, the staff were extremely arrogant, and rude, me and my friend went down to reception, to ask, where we can get some water from, and the lady told us "Get Lost, Im Busy". I have never come across such attitude from any hotel staff in my life. However, this is not all. The staff were complaining about cleaning our rooms. They said, that if the rooms were not perfectly tidy, they won't clean them. Well excuse me, but, that's what cleaners are for, you don't see firemen complaining about putting out fires do you ? Again, sadly, this wasn't it. When the school booked our rooms, etc, it was made extremely clear, that we have some vegetarian people with us. When the dinner was served, there was no vegetarian option at all, we had to tell the manager to provide a vegetarian meal, otherwise, those people have nothing to eat. In addition to this, we had to serve ourselves, and clean up after ourselves, and then, if we didin't stack a plate on the correct shelf, the staff screamed at us. One more thing, was the rooms. No basic toilettries whatsoever were provided. Also, the rooms were awfull. They had the most awfull decorating imagined, with bright orange walls, along with half broken furniture, etc... However, here comes the worst part. The hotel manager was a rude, arrogant and very nasty man. Firstly, he walked around the hotel smoking, and breathed out smoke, right into our faces when it was clearly illegal to smoke in the building, but, most importantly, he threatened our schools staff. One of our teachers was so frightened of him, that she was scared to walk around the hotel on her own, incase he would scream at her again. The hotel manager made our teacher cry, because, he took her to a corner, and screamed right into her face so loud, that every single room could hear. He screamed at her, because of the situation with the cleaners complaining. In addition, he swore at her, and all of our other staff, Im not even going to write those words down, because they were absolutely disguisting, coming from a hotel manager. Basically, everybody was scared to walk around the hotel, because we were all scared that the hotel manager would scream at us, for no apparent reason. This hotel was rated 3 stars, well, Im afraid, that according to the 100+ people who were staying there, for everybody, the hotel is struggling to reach a 1 star rating. In the previous hotel we stayed in last year, the hotel staff were so polite, and even brought out complimentary glasses of wine, etc, to the staff, and were extremely polite to every single guest, whereas here, all the staff were arrogant, and extremely rude. This hotel manager is completely incapable of running a hotel, and, personally I believe that with him running it, the hotel is not going to survive for much longer. Never, ever, stay at this hotel, you holiday, is guaranteed to be ruined. Even the other school who stayed there, and other paying guests, shared the same views as us.

I would advise no one to stay at this hotel, even if it was the only one in germany. During my stay pur group expreienced many different, lets say, problems with the hotel.

*Upon arrvial at the hotel we were told that village has no facilitys to take lunch and that for €8 they would provide a buffet lunch. This lunch was not to any degree quality and bearing in mind we had also paid for dinners in advance was not worth this amount of money.
*Upon return the second day we were greeted by the hotel manager complaing that our room was not clean and they would charge to clean if they were not clean. I have stayed in many hotels in the past and i have never met this before.
*At dinner this evening we discovered that their was only one choice of dish and that there was no vegetarian option. For desert we were served a pot of jelly. We then had to clear our own plates to a serving hatch.
*Breakfast was not that bad although some what lacked.
*5 of us shared a five bedded room, each of us used a towel and as requested by the sign left on the floor to be laundered, we returned to have the drapped over the shower cubicle with no clean towels.
*The hotel manager, is an evil man who has a bad attitude and does not seem to be nice to anyone, he began swearing at us in German when we confronted him with issues. Some of his staff also have this attitude.

The hotel is not well looked after, releativly dated and although looks nice from the outside really does not on the inside.

These concerns were shared with other groups using the hotel .

I really would not recommend staying at this hotel.

Rebstock is a 5 minute walk to Europa Park which is very convenient. They allowed us to keep our car in their parking lot to spend the day in Europa even after we checked out. The staff was very friendly & helpful.

Breakfast is included in the price of the room (8am to 10am). They had meats, cheese, bread, fruit, & scrambled eggs. The selection was okay, but the food wasn't good quality.

Our room was on the 3rd floor of the hotel. If you decide to stay in the summer months ask to have a room on a lower floor. The rooms are kept closed all day which made our room unbearably hot. It was so hot that I got a severe headache & nausea. Thankfully we had an extremely cool evening & we were able to get the room to a comfortable temperature. Room was clean & cozy (small). There is a small tv in the room with 1 English channel (CNN). We were going to eat dinner in the hotel, but decided to venture out for dinner. There are so many restaurants in town to choose from & there is a fantastic eis & coffee shop on the corner.

All in all this hotel wasn't bad. It is your basic European hotel & served it's purpose. Even though we had a good experience at this hotel I would probably try another hotel in the area.

Very family friendly. We have 3 children & were provided a very large attic room, very clean & friendly staff. Breakfast terrific!
My first visit to Germany - stayed for a week - very impressed & everything (except petrol) was much cheaper than in Ireland.
Hired car & used Rust as a base for sightseeing - Black Forest - Lake Titisee - Freiburg - Various historical sites - visted Chateau & monkey park in France - 2 days visiting Europa park & still so much more to do all within an hours drive!
Hardy (hotel owner) was very helpful & recommended lots of places to visit, directions & spoke perfect English.
Only one little negative - as it didn't bather me or the kids as we were so tired from our days - other than dinner in the restaurant there was no entertainment in the hotel or locality (except for Europa park) & that closed early (6pm) weeknights. I suppose it was May but we were told that the park opens later in the high season. Will return!

I was luck enough to visit Europa Park with free theme park entry and free stay in the Rebstock Hotel. The hotel is on a quiet side street in the town of Rust only a 2 minutes walk from the theme park entrance. Being able to walk to Europa Park meant we could arrive and leave after most people had gone. The queues are much smaller than you'd expect in the park. On average we only queued for about 20 mins a ride and sometimes in the evening not at all. The hotel staff were very friendly and spoke excellent English (handy, as we don't speak any German). The town of Rust has a few restaurants but they tend to close early (about 10 pm). The hotel rooms are fairly basic but ok.

This hotel was clean and 5 minute walk to Europa Park.
Literally the easiest walk ever.
At night the area/path to/from the park is very well lit.
I expected a dark little town and not much going on in Rust outside of the park but was surprised to see the many little restaurants/hotels near Rebstock.
Didn't feel isolated.

Free breakfast included (8am to 10am) with lots of options even for the pickiest eaters.
You can squeeze oranges to have your own fresh orange juice.
Room was clean and enough space to move around.
The bathroom was clean, everything functioned including hair dryer.
Shower was a bit small but it wasn't the smallest I've seen in Europe.
Our room had a small TV with only 1 English channel - CNN.
Restaurant dinner food was good and so was the beer.
Many hotels in the area with restaurants.

Stayed there for the last few days before Europa Park closed for a break. Halloween week at Europa Park was amazing.
Stayed there from Fri 2-Nov to Mon 5-Nov - 2007.
The rate for a double-room was 80-85 Euros per night which breaks down to 40-42.5 per person.
They welcome late check-in as long as you show up before midnight.
Our last day at the hotel was the day they were closing the hotel for a break due to the park closing.
Our room was made and breakfast still provided everyday (including Sunday and last day).

Staff was friendly and spoke the best English they could speak.
Even ran into a staff member who spoke Spanish which was great for me & the husband as we speak fluent Spanish (more than we speak German).

Only negative thing I can say (but it really isn't a complaint or much of a problem) is that the hotel is old and the floors squeak A LOT. You can hear every step taken in the room above or the hallway. But that is only a problem is you are a light sleeper.
After walking so much & getting on rides all day at Europa Park one is so tired that you just go into a deep sleep.

If you want to save money or if the Europa Park resorts are fully booked ...... I recommend you stay at Rebstock ...... cannot go wrong.
