“Don't want to leave!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2014

I'm currently sitting poolside looking at the beautiful view and sipping on a cool drink which has been brought to me by the lovely waitress! This place truly is a heaven on earth- the rooms are so gorgeous, the bed is humungous and it is so obvious that everything is done with love. This is my third year here and having been to Greece every year for the last 20 years I can say with experience that this really is perfect for the 5* Greek experience - and my family and I wouldn't want to go anywhere else now we've seen the Odyssey. Thank you to all the staff who are making this trip so wonderful- you do yourselves proud every year! As for the comments about food, we are very confused. We eat here regularly and are enjoying the 5 course dinners tremendously. The food has been really really good and compliments the high standard of everything else. Don't make me leave!!

I agree with many of the positives about this hotel. It is in a lovely position the rooms are large and the bed comfortable and enormous. Catherine, George and indeed, all of the staff, were helpful and friendly. It has a good pool and everywhere is spotless. However, the food really is not good. we have spent many holidays in Greece and understand that you can't compare it to a four star hotel elsewhere but the standard was very disappointing.
Breakfast was adequate except for the bread, only toast available and that was sliced white and floppy (not sure how they managed that) We wanted B&B but were told it had to be half board. They say it is 5 courses but it is actually 5 dishes, 3 'appetizers' 1 main and 1 sweet. None of it particularly good. We gave up after three days and went into the village where there are many good restaurants.
Once everyone has had dinner the place is empty. The only lounge area is on a different floor to the only bar that is open. You get the feeling that they don't want people there after dinner. Having said all this I would repeat that the owners and staff are very helpful and it is a lovely hotel but I can't say that I would go back.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are very good and have a wide sea view.

Stopped here on our sailing holiday and took a break from the sea by having lunch and using the pool. Great views, very clean. Lunch was lovely and similarly priced to local tavernas. Well worth stoping here to cool off if you're in town.

Let's count...1)welcome drink on time 2)size of room 40 sq meters 3)big balcony and table with 4 armchairs-not 2 which is the usual-4)jacuzzi 5)high tech entrance key 5)excellent restaurant setting with magnificent view 6) very charming personnel starting from George in the reception and Dimitra and Eliana in the breakfast room 7)strong WiFi everywhere 8)parking place in the hotel area 9)excellent temperature feeling in the room due to Clima 10)Last but not least the Greek night every Wednesday evening with live music with Greek and international songs!!

Room Tip: All the same

The Odyssey Hotel is our top choice if you're going to visit Kefalonia. Perfect location, amazing views, excellent service, the place is immaculate and the staff are fantastic. The hotel is a credit to the family that own and run it. This is the 2nd year running that we have stayed here and it won't be the last. Love this place!

How can I put my views in words about this hotel - its location, the breathtaking view of the Mediterranean Sea (Ionian Sea?), the size of the room, comfortable beds, the most modern bathroom with an ultra modern shower unit, the general cleanliness not only of the room we stayed in and the bathroom but all around the hotel premise. Every thing was beyond expectation. And the members of staff were very polite and friendly and very helpful in every respect. And what to say about the always smiling owner - Catharine - she had all the time for you to discuss any problems or advise you on visiting places, ordering a taxi and negotiating the fare and many more.

We chose to stay bed and breakfast which what we have been doing for many many years to taste the food at different restaurants in different surroundings. Breakfast at Odyssey was simple but adequate for both vegetarians and not so vegetarians. It was the same day in and day out but please do not take this as a criticism as this might be the Greek tradition which I experienced at a Greek hotel in Cyprus for three years running staying for two weeks each year. I cannot comment on the dinner at Odyssey but on the grounds of eating here three of four times I feel that it was just above average but enough to satisfy the hunger. A comment on a dessert on the half board menu - fruit with yogurt and honey. When it came it was nothing but a few pieces of water melon and yellow melon with a lump of yogurt on the plate and a trickle of honey. I ate at quite a few local restaurants where after a main meal a plate full of water melon and yellow melon three times more than what I received at hotels MNHSTHPES restaurant and that too was complementary. This may not be taken as a criticism as I have experienced that most hotel restaurants including the Cyprus one except the one in Sorrento, Italy and Gran Canarias for some reason follow this tradition. However as I am not a big eater and I enjoyed the most scenic view of the Ionian sea sitting outside there was little to comment upon at the time.

Room Tip: All the rooms at Odyssey are sea front ones. Maybe the ones on the second floor have larger view of...

This holiday has to rate as one of the best we have ever had. This is mainly due to the truly amazing Odyssey Hotel. Catherine and Gerry and all the staff are such lovely, warm people and cannot do enough for you. My husband forgot his tablets and when they weren't received by the due date by DHL, Catherine was on the phone chasing them up and making sure they were there without fail! From the decor to the friendliness, everything is first class. No expense has been spared on the hotel and we will be looking to return, if not this year, then next. Most of the couples we met at the hotel had been before and we have made some lovely friends. Thanks to all of you for such a wonderful time. Pen & Jon x
