“Fantastic Anacapri experience”
Reviewed 21 May 2014 via mobile

We had a wonderful time at Hotel Al Mulino. It could not have been more perfect. Our room was the biggest we've had in our travels throughout Italy and very clean. Our bathroom was very clean and relaxing to use unlike some of the other bathrooms we have encountered in Italy. The hotel itself looks like paradise as you walk up the front path and we were so warmly greeted by Antoinetta and the rest of the staff. Each morning started with a fresh breakfast with wonderful food like Nutella crepes and sweet breads and the staff was ready to brew us cappuccinos etc. The staff was very knowledgeable about the bus systems etc. Which made getting around the island easy and Antoinetta even called a local restaurant who came and picked us up and brought us back (amazing food and we were so grateful for her recommendation. Our patio was beautiful and we were surrounded by colorful flowers and lemon trees. Overall we had an amazing experience and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

We stayed here last year for three nights on a last minute trip to Capri and were SO happy with it. We hadn't been to the island before, and someone told us that we would like the Anacapri side better, and they were totally right. Anacapri is laid-back and unpretentious, and Capri, while fun to visit, is expensive and luxe.

The Al Mulino is clean and comfortable, not fancy. We had a room with small porch area and nice bathroom for a reasonable price, exactly what we wanted. The breakfasts is lovely and we actually ended up buying some of their homemade lemon-orange marmalade to take home. Antoinetta picked us up and dropped us off at the ferry dock without trouble, and she and her staff are delightful.

The only downside of the location IS the location - it is seriously out of the way on foot. We liked that, but it can be hard to find at night. There are neat little signs on some of the windy pathways to help you find your way, though.

The one complaint about the place is the beds. Pretty hard and not particularly comfortable.

Pros: Internet was top notch for Italy. Owner Antonietta & staff were very friendly and accommodating. Pickup and drop off shuttle from main port in Capri was very helpful. Grounds are pretty and well kept. Room was simple but very clean. Great restaurant: Giorgio al Cucciola is only a short walk away. Hotel is located along the bus route down to the Blue Grotto, and a short uphill walk to Anacapri center. Also very close to archeological site Villa Damecuta: ruins of Roman Emperor Tiberius' villa: free entry, barely a tourist in sight and a great spot to view the sunset... bring your own prosecco!

Cons: Shower a bit small (no tub). Only a "peek-a-boo" view of ocean from terrace. Included breakfast was very simple (we would have liked a bit more variety, especially fresh fruits)

Al Mulino was a great place from which to explore Anacapri. The room was nice and clean, but what made our stay special was the lovely, welcoming hostess Antoinetta. She drove us round to show us the best spot for viewing the sunset and was very helpful in recommending places to go. I think Al Mulino is good value for money, and I can't wait to go back to incredible island of Capri one day again!

The service at this hotel is exceptional. The owner, Antonietta, met us at the ferry when we arrived on the island and from that moment on we felt like we were the most important people in Antonietta's life. She stopped on the way to the hotel to show us some of the island's spectacular scenery and welcomed us with home-made Limoncella and pastries. The hotel is located well away from the centre of Anacapri, so Antonietta drove us to our restaurant for dinner on our first night and picked us up again afterwards.
This is a small, quiet hotel lacking in many amenities, but it is modern and spotlessly clean. Our room opened onto our own courtyard, surrounded by lemon trees.
The Al Mulino is in a residential area. The "streets" around the hotel were clearly built for donkeys and not cars, so walking into town is interesting and walking back at night is an adventure.
Overall, we had a wonderful time on the Isle of Capri, in no small measure because of our experience at the Hotel Al Mulino.

Hotel Mulino is set in the beautiful hilltop town of Anacapri. The hotel is set in an area of beautiful residential homes and garden. The landscape at Hotel Mulino includes olive trees, lemon trees and many beautiful varieties of flowers. Antoniette isthe owner of this hotel in paradise. Antoinette was born and grew up in Anacapri so she can tell you everything. Antoniette is a very gentle and generous hostess. On the day that we arrived at Anacapri Antoniette was away celebrating the wedding of a close friend. Antoniette arranged for a driver to pick us up at the port to deliver us to the hotel. The next day Antoinette apologized over and over again for being away for the first day. Then she detailed all of the sights that we should be sure to visit on Day Number 2. The day was overcast. Antoinette actually called the Blue Grotto to assure that boats would be operating and to let us know the best time for our visit. At dinner time it was drizzling and Antoniette drove us to town and suggestted dinner restaurants. She even offered to pick us up after dinner to drive us back to the hotel. Breakfast at the hotel included many homemade delights. Choices included crepes, apple cake, chocolate cake, lemon cake, fruit and warm drinks. The rooms are decorated in beautiful blue tones. The tile is gorgeous. The furniture and art work are perfect. The bathroom was modern and beautiful. Simone, Antoiniette's daughter, has made the whole hotel a peaceful heaven. Outside each of the 7 rooms is a lovely private terrace. This is the perfect place for reading, thinking or sipping an afternoon or evening Limoncello. Before our trip Simone made several email contacts with me to be sure that our transportation connections and that the all of our visit would be perfect. The family at Al Mulino really knows how to provide top hospitality and personalized care. Thanks so much to Antoniette, Simone and to Maria from Betty and Steven Silkunas

I cannot fault this place from the moment we were picked up from the port and given a tour of the island to the being dropped off and given farewell hugs. We were made to feel at home. The hotel is set in a beuatfil garden and is short walk uphill to Anacapri centre. The hotel is small with 7 rooms and very quiet. All rooms have a lovely private terrace. We were given lots of local information including good restaurants to eat in. Such a lovely friendly place to stay, oh and delicious cake for breakfast too!
