We ate here in a group of 7 after reading the best reviews here. The view really is beautiful and the building itself is also very attractive and welcoming.
Not having reserved we got a table right at the back in a corner, right under a loudspeaker which was blaring out an awful radio station with the usual adverts shouting out at twice the volume of the music. When we asked the waiter if he could maybe turn it off he said yes initially, but then returned with - presumably - the head waiter who told us it wasn't possible to turn it off (so lump it, his expression suggested).
We considered leaving but at 8pm in the hills above Montevarchi there aren't many alternatives so we decided to stick it out. A mistake in hindsight. The portions were small as expected in a restaurant with its reputation, but they weren't that good for their price. The pork fillet e.g. was fatty, other dishes were flavourless. The house wines (made and sold by the adjoining fattoria) were not impressive either. The beers 2 in our group ordered came in cans without the offer of a glass! Service was slow, at best.
All in all, we had far better meals for almost half the price elsewhere in the region. The drive up there definitely wasn't worth it for us.
