Description: The New Inn is Tresco's friendly local pub that offers award winning food and beverages. Filled with guests and locals all year round, it is very much the heart of the island community. In addition to regular live music, it also hosts the island's beer and cider festivals. The New Inn also offers bed and breakfast accommodation. So, how best to describe the New Inn menu? Basically, it's the best of both land and sea. Quite literally in the case of the Tresco Surf & Turf, which first appeared on the menu to much acclaim in 2013. Well, let's face it, who wouldn't be seduced by the magical combination of succulent Bryher lobster and juicy chargrilled Tresco beefsteak? Other recent introductions to the menu include crab claws, potted shrimps and fish stew as well as other local delicacies such as the Cornish pork and Tresco partridge sausage roll. Along with cracking new dishes, there are still the old favourites such as beer-battered fish and chips, Cumberland sausage and mash, and the New Inn burger, produced from our own grass-fed beef herd. The New Inn has been awarded four yellow stars and a Gold Star Award from the AA for quality and service and an AA rosette for food excellence. It is one of only 12 Cornish pubs to be listed in the Michelin 'Eating Out in Pubs Guide'. In November 2013, it won Bronze in the 'Pub of The Year' category at the South West Tourism Awards.

Tresco has a two cafés, a hotel restaurant, a snack place in the Abbey Gardens and this - a pub with food. The pub itself is a bit dark and doesn't seem to have a great atmosphere. However, the staff (on the whole young students working through their holidays) are lively and effective. First time, we just went for an ice cream and a drink and sat outside. Second time we went for lunch - I went for a special of John Dory served with wilted spinach and a seafood risotto, my wife went for fish and chips. Both were very large portions; both were well presented and tasted superb. To get a risotto so perfect as pub food takes a lot of doing - that slight hardness to the centre of the rice, but with a creamy, rich taste. Prices are a little high for a pub, but good for what you get.

Whenever we drop onto Tresco (which, since we stay on Bryher is quite a regular occurrence) drinks at the New Inn are de rigueur, for the great selection of well-kept, beers & ciders. The menu is varied, always of the highest standard, beautifully cooked and served by helpful, smiling, vigilant staff. Last weekend's Cider Festival with live music on both Saturday night and Sunday lunchtime only served to increase our enjoyment. There are lots of thrushes and sparrows in the garden - beautiful but not aggressive because we are politely asked not to feed them other than the few crumbs you might ,eave at the end of a meal. This year's crab sandwich had become crab and prawn, and was just as good as ever! We all ate different items from the menu, vegetarian as well as carnivorous, and all were extremely happy with our food and drink as always!

Great food with highly recommended daily specials. The crispy salmon I had one night is a stand-out meal. Friendly and simple service. Good value for money.

We arrived at Tresco with high hopes and we were not disappointed in what is a fabulous location. We stayed at the New Inn which, with gorgeous bedrooms and a fantastic service, was an absolute pleasure. The Manager, Robin, was the epitome of a service driven professional and we wish him every luck in his new endeavours. We will certainly return to Tresco and the New Inn as we have never found anywhere in the world quite so magical.

We had dinner at the New Inn as part of an evening trip whilst staying on Bryher. Lovely food and excellent service. We had to sit in the bar area though as the main restaurant seating was reserved for hotel guests. Consequently it was a big noisy.
