Lovely wide sandy beach. Plenty of room even now. If you did want more space, just take a short walk around the corner to find another excellent secluded beach.

Being the English Channel we always prepare ourselves for whatever the weather with throw at us but every time we visit Herm - beautiful sunshine, and the same this week!
Incredible to think you don't have to travel very far at all from London to reach one of the best, most tranquil and unspoilt beaches in Europe if not the World. Just a shame everyone else seems to have increasingly heard about it too ...

I twice (in a day) walked this beach, near the edge of the sea. Soft sand, hard sand, shells, blue sea, blue sky - heavenly.

We visited Herm as part of our trip to Guernsey. Crossing is just 20 minutes, made on an unexpectedly hot day and we forgot the sun tan cream. A walk up steps and a bit if a hill takes you to the few shops and pubs. We had lunch at the Mermaid Tavern which was very nice and very quiet. Free wi if was a bonus. We then walked the whole island. Shell Beach is beautiful as is every part of the island. My memories are of hundreds of butterflies, wild garlic, amazing beaches, excellent value for money cafés on the beaches, clean public toilets and a beautiful walk. Herm is a quiet paradise and one that I would certainly come back to.

Having been lucky enough to see quite a bit of the world, it takes a lot to really impresse me. Shell beach is just perfect, we were there when the tide was down making for a very scenic walk, stopping at the north-eastern point for a swim and a sun bake on a couple of rocks. The beach is backed by rolling sanddunes. There is a small cafe, and a place to hire kayaks etc at the beaches southern end.
