“Serene surrounds”
Reviewed 17 July 2014

We recently spent a 3 day mini-break at the home of Jeannette and Bruce at Lily Pily Country House. We had the centre suite of the 3 suites available with a nice deck overlooking the river. As we were there in Winter, it was nice to have an air conditioner in the room, plus electric heater in the bathroom. We found the ambiance of the property and surrounds to be very relaxing and serene. On arrival we were treated to a nice afternoon tea in the lounge area where a wood fire had been lit. The lounge area includes nice comfy chairs and TV for guests viewing. The breakfast provided by the hosts are really first class and they do go to a lot of trouble in the presentation of the breakfasts provided to their guests. There is a vast array of fruit for selection and choices for your hot cooked breakfast, followed by either tea or coffee, all served in the spacious dining room. In the Summer time, the breakfast would most likely be served on the outdoor terrace facing the river. It was nice to be able to stroll through the property down to the riverside where there is a cabana for guests to sit and relax and admire the river and bush views. The property, both house and surrounds are presented in immaculate condition and are a credit to the owners. The only negatives we found with the suites were no TV in the individual suites, lack of hanging space, and no full length mirror. Other than that, we were very happy with our stay.

We stayed with Jeanette and Bruce for 1 night in the middle of a 10 week trip and wished we had stayed longer. It was a real highlight. Our room was beautifully furnished with the most comfortable bed and spa bathroom. There is a lovely open plan lounge and decking looking out over gardens and the river. You don't really need to venture off their estate; as hosts they are very welcoming and invite you to take advantage of the walks and boating on the river. Bellingen itself is a very attractive town with good local restaurants and specialist shops. Thoroughly recommend Lily Pily and do spend longer than one night!

We've just enjoyed our second visit to Lily Pily and loved it just as much as the first time.

It really is a wonderful place - so quiet and peaceful, with beautiful gardens and great views over the Kalang River. Each room is wonderfully decorated, immaculately clean, very comfortable and has a private verandah overlooking the gardens and the river.

We love that Lily Pily is for adults-only as this really allowed us to unwind, relax and enjoy some much-needed peace and quiet and a little time out from our busy lives.

Lily Pily is just a few minutes drive to Bellingen so you're very close to some great cafes and shops. And Coffs Harbour, Sawtell and Dorrigo are all within easy reach too.

Jeannette and Bruce are fantastic hosts who put so much into making Lily Pily a wonderful retreat. They are a wealth of information about the local area, restaurants and things to do.

Breakfast was fantastic, with delicious fresh fruit, cereal, yoghurt, juices, a selection of hot items cooked to order and fantastic coffee. Delicious!

If you're heading to Bellingen, or even just passing through, we highly recommend Lily Pily as a wonderful place to stay.

Go, enjoy, unwind and RELAX!

:)

Bellingen was a convenient stop en route from Sydney to Melbourne and LilyPily was a beautiful oasis. After 5 weeks of travelling around Oz - staying in first class accommodation - this country house is one of the best places we stayed.
Everything about our stay was quality. Jeannette and Bruce are very welcoming - after showing us to our beautifully and tastefully furnished/appointed room, we were offered a glass of wine to relax and unwind whilst drinking in the beautiful view. The grounds are simply beautiful - a kookaburra was perched on the statue at the entrance when we arrived and the only sound you can hear is birdsong. The decoration of LilyPily reflects elements from their extensive travels.
Bruce's breakfast was something else - absolutely superb. A vast range of locally sourced cereals, sourdough toast, home made jam and a choice of cooked breakfasts that are worthy of any top class hotel. We cannot recommend this place highly enough!!!

Having been recommended to visit Bellingen we were not disappointed in this beautiful town surrounded by magnificent countryside & to find Lily Pily was a hidden treasure. Our hosts Jeanette & Bruce made our stay very memorable, welcoming us with a glass of champagne on arrival after a long drive! Our room was beautifully furnished with a lovely balcony overlooking the tropical garden. Breakfast was a great way to start the day with a lovely selection of local produce sitting overlooking the river. Chatting to our hosts we gained local knowledge of the area & had a wonderful time exploring this beautiful region. We had the most marvellous stay & didn't want to leave! Hopefully we will be able to return to Lily Pily in the near future!

Room Tip: Not applicable as every room is well appointed overlooking the beautiful gardens

After a long drive, to find Lily Pily was a charming oasis to arrive at with a welcoming glass of wine and some nibbles. A beautifully well kept place to stay, loved everything from the comfort of our spacious airy room to the welcome from Bruce and Jeanette. We immediately became totally relaxed and at home. The area around was stunning and we enjoyed a lovely walk at Hungry Head on Bruce's recommendation followed by a drive up to Dorrigo. An area of contrasts but a haven to come back to.
