Augusta has a population of around 1,000. Accommodation choices are precious few. It's hard to get a good meal. Even a very average pub meal is expensive (mains $20-30). So bear this in mind when you check into the Best Western. The decor is tired, but the sheets are starched white clean, and the bathroom is spotless. The rooms have a fully equipped kitchen where you can cook your own food - cheaper and better than anything the town has to offer. And you can eat in your own courtyard. So... who could ask for more?

Room Tip: Wi-fi is best accessed from rooms closest to the office.

We arrive in Augusta driving from Perth, at around 4pm in June. A family-run motel, there was nobody at the small reception area and I rang the bell before an elderly man appeared. He handed me the key after checking my reservation number. The motel is small and our car was parked right in from of our door.

The room was spacious with a small balcony/garden which we did not use due to the cold. It was cold, and the small heater provided in the room could not do much in warding off the cold. The 'twin room' comprised a double and single bed which were comfortable enough. The motel advertises itself as 'self-contained units' and each room has an area for light cooking, cutlery, microwave apart from the usual tea/coffee facilities. The bathroom was of good size and it took a while for the hot water to flow from the tap or shower.Avoid choosing the continental breakfast option when booking. We were given a small bottle of juice, a small box of cereal, milk, an apple and 2 pieces of frozen bread. There is a bakery within walking distance.

Otherwise, the room was clean and this would serve as a good choice for those who intend to visit Cape Leeuwin.

We booked through Busselton Tourist Information Centre for $117 a night that included free wifi and continental breakfast. Motel website was $145 and wotif, $127.
Wifi couldn't connect, so was useless. Parking spaces were so narrow that two small (mini) cars parked beside each other couldn't open doors, but the rest was good. Good basic (very) accommodation, clean and handy to everything that Augusta has to offer. Breakfast package for two included 2 pieces of good fruit, 4 eggs, 4 slices of mixed grain bread for toast, ample butter squares 2 packages of cereals, 2 juices and a 600ml container of fresh milk (not long life).
Bottle shop and PO plus butcher and clothes shops opposite. A good IGA about 200metres from the motel on the same side of the road. Room had good cooking facilities and a bar b q at the door. Pub was opposite the IGA and appeared to have meals on offer. After having a drink there in the afternoon (small non descript cider and a middy of swan larger for $14.60, without a smile), we decided on the IGA option for the evening.

Room Tip: All rooms appeared the same

I spent 1 night at the Best Western with 2 friends and thought the Hotel was great ,It was clean ,roomy well equipped and the courtyard with the barbecue was great ,though no airconditioning could be a problem in summer but I would definately stay there again..
