Definitely worth a visit, very picturesque. NB. Let your tyres down on corrugations on road and driving on the beach.

The road into the Fitzgerald River National park by way of Hopetoun on the eastern side of the park is good. We were concerned that the road was not sealed to Hopetoun. We stopped at the tourist information office in Ravensthorpe and were given very good info. Not only was the road sealed but we found we did not have to come all the way back to get to Esperance. There is a road along the way back that says airport. Take that road and it saves a lot of time. The Fitzgerald River is very beautiful. Facilities are first rate. Do not pass it if at all possible.

It has unique flora, beautiful scenery and the whale watching (in season) from the viewing platforms at Point Anne is special.

Recently we camped for 8 days in the magnificent Fitzgerald River National Park.
This was my second visit in 8 years and the wildflowers were fantastic in their diversity and abundance.
We were at the end of the whale season and only saw one Southern Right whale, however others in the camp were there a month earlier when there were an estimated 30 whales and calves off Point Ann.
Their blowing and flapping of flukes were heard all day and night and by all reports the experience was fantastic.
The Department of Environment and Conservation are currently constructing a 30 km coastal walk track from Point Ann to beyond Point Charles which when completed will be a great walk to experience, especially in August/September when both the whales and the flowers will be in abundance.
This is a get back to nature experience and would suit keen walkers, amateur and professional botanists and those who enjoy camping in the wilderness.
Facilities are basic with long drop toilets and basic camp sites.
Free gas barbecues are available and camping fees are very reasonable.
Highly recommended as an escape into nature.
Bring your own water and all food and camping requirements

For a naturalist this is a special place. Point Ann is wild and good for whale watching; the flora is amazing. Good gravel roads.
