“Heritage Needs AN Update”
Reviewed 14 July 2012

My husband, son and I had had two connecting rooms at this hotel for two nights after a week in Exmouth. This "resort" advertises itself as a four star luxurious holiday stay. This is definitely exaggerated. It may have been four star many years ago but not now. I was expecting it to be special because it was more expensive per night than than our great stay in Exmouth. The rooms were spacious for a hotel but they looked very tired and our room had a musty smell. After walking around Denham we realized that alot of the accommodation also tired and worn. I would not be returning to this accommodation in the future.

Hi SylviaD9

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We have taken your comments on board and are sorry to hear that your visit wasn’t quite what you expected and that you won’t be back to visit.

The upgrades to our property are ongoing and we are in the process of updating all of our rooms and facilities provided, but as you can imagine this does take a little bit of time. We do receive a lot of great feedback from our Ocean View Rooms which have recently been upgraded. On 15th July 2012 we had a visit from AAA tourism who awarded us to a 4 Star Motel. We try very hard to make sure that all guests have an enjoyable and pleasant stay for the price paid. If you had let us know about the musty smell or that matter any problems in the rooms etc we would have been more than happy to remedy the situation or resolved the matter straight away.

Once again I am sorry to hear that your stay wasn’t as enjoyable as hoped, but we have a majority of guests who return and are more than happy with the facilities at the Heritage Resort. We really appreciate the feedback as it helps us to improve and provide a better experience for everyone.

We stayed for 4 nights on a deal and thought it was great. We had an oceanview room which was very spacious and clean. The room had a table and chairs and a small balcony with a couple of chairs as well. Cooked breakfast was included but there is no choice here, you get whatever is on for that day, bacon, a variety of eggs and maybe another side. There is a also a small selection of cereal and fruit and toast. While I wouldn't call it a resort, it was comfortable and we would stay there again.

I stayed with a friend for three nights last week. The room we had - an ocean view - was clean and very comfortable. The beds had nice linen and decent pillows, which was a nice change. It was a good size with a two seat sofa that looked like it could pull out to a bed and two small chairs and a table. Good for writing postcards or having a read. There was a good size closet and a nice bench to put your cases on. The bathroom was pretty basic - small vanity and only a shower. It was clean and they provided pleanty of soaps and shampoos. There was a bar fridge where you could keep drinks. The air con worked well.
The pool area was a bit run down. It wouldn't take much to update the little garden beds and give it a genral tidy up. This would do wonders for its appeal.
We had the fully cooked breakfast which was very odd. You got two fried eggs a strip of bacon and a cooked tomato but none of this was mentioned before it arrived. I have never not been asked how I like my eggs or what accompiaments I would like with them. The lady serving was freindly but would have saved herself a bit of work by asking a couple of questions. The Continental breakfast was a choice of four cereals , canned peaches, yogurt and toast.
In all the hotel was probably a bit better than the averge ones up in the North of WA but on an International standard many would be disappointed.

A group of friends stayed so we had a wide spectrum of rooms available. All were the same and one of the rooms' air-conditioning broke down (no reimbursement, just an old portable aircon was given many hours later). Everything in the rooms were old, musty, saw cockroaches, had noisy air-con, - just very dated. Would not have been so harsh if it weren't for the steep prices. Pool water was murky. I'm sure the cleaners did their best but really - this place needs an upgrade. Or at least charge acceptable rates for what it is worth.

Room Tip: There is no hope.

The room was large and clean, and for such a remote town it was better than others I have experienced. The bed was comfy and room clean. A handful of cable TV channels are offered.
On check in I was offered a room which had a strong cleaning chemical smell. They changed the room for me and gave me a bottle of red wine as an apology. My room also had a small balcony.

Meal was very nice and far better than I had experienced in Geraldton, Carnarvon or other WA towns. Breakfast was ok, but a bit basic. Both were not cheap.

Staff were friendly and helpful.

I will stay here again next time and would recommend the place to friends.

Room Tip: Ask for a water view

Not too many choices in the small town of Denham, so we chose the Heritage "Resort" because of its Ocean Front location. Fair to say the "Resort" is clean and the staff we encountered were courteous. As for the room we had, the decor was very tired and overdue for a refresh. For example, the shower had a rather tired plastic / faux fabric curtain which did not stop a lot of water from splashing out onto the bathroom floor, the loo had a loose seat and the bathroom tiles were a very dated green number. The big plasma TV was almost a bonus, but spoiled by the poor reception. The sofa in our room was one of those things that converted into a bed and was the most uncomfortable sofa we have ever encountered in a "Resort" or anywhere else for that matter. Seriously, it was like sitting on a row of steel bars with fabric draped over them. The most annoying problem with our room, however, was the noise from the plant room near the pool. Whatever it is in there drones all through the night. Like another reviewer, we also experienced the door slamming, thankfully it did not go on all night though. In our opinion, The Heritage "Resort" gets a big tick for location, but sadly. that's where it ended for us.

Room Tip: Give any rooms near the pool a miss.
