Gumnuts Bed & Breakfast
Ranked #4 of 17 Denmark B&B and Inns
Reviewed 14 July 2014

My family has just spent two nights at Gumnuts Bed and Breakfast Denmark. It was the most enjoyable and relaxing time we have had in quite some time!!! Our rooms were very clean, roomy and above all comfortable.
Maureen and Ian are the perfect hosts. We enjoyed among other tasty morsels, fresh fruit salad and fresh baked bread. Maureen is my Grandson's favorite cook. Maureen baked a brownie slice (Yummy), cookies and muffins all gaining A+ from Kieren.
The setting is beautiful, surrounded by trees with glimpses of the inlet. Ian with his local knowledge was able to advise special areas of interest. Elephant rocks would have to be our favorite spot.
This is a very special place to visit.
Thank you for opening your home and making us feel welcome. We will return in the future.

We were lucky to be the first guests at Gumnuts since the place changed owners. The rooms were luxurious, and the breakfast was one of the best we ever had. Ian & Maureene were amazing! Maureene cooks the best cookies and cakes, makes sure that there will be plenty of games for the kids (she even went to the local library to get some more games for them). Ian is full of knowledge and helped us with our plans. The location is also amazing and we just enjoyed sitting outside and watching the birds who came to the the feeders.
Don't miss it! The best value to your money!

I cannot praise our time in Gumnuts enough. It was just delightful. Loved watching the birds and enjoying the comfort of the house. Although it has taken so long to write the review, it still deserves the effort. Thank you Marilyn.

We stayed at Gumnuts for 2 nights while travelling around the south west of Australia. On arrival, we were greeted warmly by Marilyn who came out to meet us in the drive before showing us around the accommodation. We were made to feel at ease/home immediately. Marilyn is the perfect host, a lot of care and attention to detail is given e.g. biscuits on arrival, flowers in the bedroom, nothing is too much trouble and she has lots of advice to make the most out of your visit to the area.

The accommodation is clean and spacious, with lounge (TV, DVD player, CD player, radio, plenty of sofas and views out to the gardens to see the birds feeding), kitchenette (fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster). Our bedroom was also spacious with a huge, comfy bed and immaculate bed linen which gave rise to the best nights sleep.

The breakfasts were fantastic, Marilyn had the table all set for us when we got up with cereals, freshly cut fruits, yoghurt, fruit juice, delicious warm homemade bread, homemade jams (strawberry was so good we finished the jar!) and a fantastic cooked breakfast of toast, bacon, sausage, poached eggs (scrambled were offered it we wanted), tomato, mushrooms - basically everything and anything you could want, all cooked to perfection - we didn't need any lunch!

Gumnuts is the perfect B&B if you like a relaxing, quiet location, with the friendliest of hosts who wants to ensure her guests enjoy themselves without being intrusive. Simply the best B&B we have stayed in and we would definitely return if we were in the area again.

My friend and I stayed for one night as part of a girls walking holiday... It was fabbo; in the middle of winter Denmark can be freezing; but heaters; cozy fires and big breaksfasts made us very well looked after.. The beds were comfy; the lounge room relaxing ad the morning birds gorgeous.. Its not the funkiest of places; but its looke dafter with pride and care and made us feel really welcome and looked after.. Also very close to the Bibbulumum Track

We've now stayed at this B & B twice and both times it exceeded our expectations.
Overall, the whole house has a very homely, welcoming feel with lots of touches like a plate of biscuits or home made cakes left out for afternoon tea - very welcome after a long day out at the beach or seeing sights.
Marilyn (who owns and runs the place) also does the most amazing breakfast which is worth experiencing. Every morning we'd wake up to find the table set with fresh fruits, yogurts, cereals, freshly made hot bread, a selection of toasts - and that's just for starters. Cooked breakfasts are made to order - with everything from a full English (sausage, bacon, eggs, tomatoes) to some innovative alternatives for vegetarians such as fried eggplant, mushrooms and tomatoes on toast. On the second day, upon learning that some guests were vegetarians, veggie sausages appeared on the menu.
The B and B is comfortable and quiet - it's basically in the downstairs of the owners house but guests have their own space, with outdoor barbeque area, veranda looking out onto the garden, private lounge with television, radio, CD player with a selection of discs, kitchenette and fridge.
We stayed here over new year and were even offered champagne with breakfast on new years day - nothing was too much trouble.
Bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of wardrobe / draw space.
Would very much recommend this B and B for couples or anyone seeking a quiet retreat - and it's especially good value for those who enjoy a big breakfast that means you won't need to eat until the evening.
Gumnuts doesn't really cater for young children or pets.
The cost was actually less than some motels we looked at (which did not include breakfast), so it's very good value for money. Highly recommended.
