Blue Wren Travellers' Rest YHA

We stayed at this hostel just the one night while riding the Munda Biddi trail. We have stayed in a lot of hostels and backpackers and I would say that this one is OK but that is all. Not especially well cared for or much attention to detail. Unfortunately the solar water heater for the ladies one shower couldn't cope and the booster had not been turned on. So no hot water. The kitchen is again only just OK. Perfectly OK to stay here but just don't expect too much.

This is a very small backpackers. Our room (family) was quite nice, with a tiny balcony. The dining area was quite nice, lounge tiny but cosy. The kitchen was OK, but there was a grater there that was completely rusty - we actually threw it in the bin. Didn't find the manager all that friendly, and bathroom and toilet not so clean.

This hostel is a quaint little wooden house right in town, with clean rooms and bathroom and lovely home-style kitchen.
We stayed in the double room, which was nice. The hostel manager was friendly and helpful as well.

This has been my favourite WA hostel so far, would definitely recommend.

Appreciate this is budget accommodation and we've stayed at many YHA however the place isn't all that clean to the point we couldn't face using the kitchen with a dog walking round and sleeping on the floor. Toilets and showers not great either. Very glad it was only 1 night and would recommend looking elsewhere. Positive point is that the owner is laid back and friendly.

That's how it happens with a dog around. Some customers really love it and others get turned off.

We are a group of 4 cyclists passing through and enjoyed our stay thoroughly. Graham is very helpful and friendly. The place is very clean and cosy. Fresh sheets, clean towels, big lounge room and kitchen area, free internet. More than we can ever hope for. Only thing that can improve are the toilets, that need some work.

We got a family room with 4 beds and that suit us fine. All in, we had a wonderful experience and yes, the real bonus is the cute dog that lives there.

Great location too, just a stone's throw from the town centre.

I hope to see lots more cyclists coming through here with the Munda Biddi offroad trail due to be completed this year. 1000km from Perth to Albany.

My partner and I stayed here for two nights in their only double room. The hostel owner was very laidback and the hostel also had a laidback atmosphere. It was a lot quieter and more chilled out than other YHA hostels I have stayed at in WA, such as the one in Albany, Kalgoorlie & Lancelin. The place was clean and had some nice eco-touches such as scrap-bin for the compost. The location was great...literally a one minute walk to the local shops, cafes, bakeries and pubs. There is a resident dog who is very friendly...I am generally scared of dogs but felt comfortable around this one. For dinner try the Healthy Buddha Bar just up the road :)

Room Tip: There is only one double room at this hostel. Access is on the outside of the building, so it's...
