We've thoroughly enjoyed staying at Whalers on a number of occasions in the past.
This summer, however, we have been extremely disappointed.
The usually friendly managers were quite uninterested, short and, at times, rude.
Our villa was very poorly presented upon our arrival, smelling stuffy and stale, with fruit remains left on the floor. A number of the door latches for the loo and bathroom were broken, and the crockery and cutlery was particularly old and inadequate. The oven was a poor excuse, and the BBQ internal lighter was malfunctioning dangerously. I felt happier, though, simply buying matches to light it, rather than face the inevitable "attitude" if I'd mentioned it to the managers.
A number of new "notices", dictating what we, the paying guests, must, or must not do, are prominently displayed throughout the villa. I suppose this adds a unique "boarding-house" type atmosphere, but one I would, frankly, rather do without.
While we were quite happy to leave the villa tidy, I resent being commanded to clean it too! I would have thought that the premium rates charged would cover a standard in-between-guests clean?
I left, feeling that we should have been feeling grateful for having been granted the privilege of staying there, rather than happy we'd chosen to return.More
