Owner description: No holiday to the South West of WA would be complete without taking the time to view and photograph the abundant marine and ocean life that thrives along this magnificent coastline. Naturaliste Charters has been operating professional whale watching tours out of Augusta and Dunsborough for more than 20 years. Cape Naturaliste’s unique location means we are able to offer a six-month whale-watching season from Mid May to Mid December. Our tours provide visitors with the opportunity to view Humpback Whales, Southern Right Whales, and the rare Blue and Minke Whales on both their northern and southern migrations. As you watch these majestic creatures breach and frolic, we guarantee you’ll be mesmerised by their agility. We also carry the latest hydroponic equipment so you can listen to their haunting, yet beautiful sounds. Our whale watching vessel, the ‘Cetacean Explorer’ is fully equipped with the latest navigational and safety equipment, and provides outstanding viewing opportunities for all those on-board. Our crew are trained in marine science and provide expert commentary, while guests enjoy complimentary tea, coffee, milo, green tea and biscuits. Other marine life you might encounter during your whale watching tour include: ◾New Zealand Fur Seals ◾Bottlenose & Common Dolphins ◾Sea Birds

We went on the morning whale watch cruise on Thursday 19 June out of Augusta. The crew ensured everyone's safety transferring from jetty, to transfer boat, and then onto the whale watching vessel. The skipper put everyone at ease with his great sense of humour, and shared his great wealth of knowledge about the whales. The skipper and handled the boat well through some big swells, and ensured everyone's safety. There were many whales in the bay and we were lucky enough to see one breach in front of the boat. We were privileged enough to have one whale swim back and forward beside the boat for a few minutes giving us a lovely close up view. The skipper ensured he did not take the boat too close to the whales, but allowed them to approach the boat. It can definitely get chilly out there so ensure you have warm clothing and a spray jacket.

“Whales close up and more”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

Being in a wheelchair, we were not sure if we would able to do this tour but ' all hands on deck' and I was lifted into the small boat and lifted on to the big boat for 2 hrs of seeing humpback flap there tails and do body rolls.
We were then taken out to see the seals and dolphins were swimming along side of us.
A great morning and the skipper was right...it had crap coffee but great whales.
A must for any age to do.
If I can do it in a wheelchair so can you.

“Excellent !”

A great tour, led by a very knowledgable and fun kiwi skipper & his deck. Very talented crew who made sure eveyone was happy and enjoyed the trip, lots of whales spotted and the skipper knew exactly how to behave and lead the boat so that we could enjoy very close encounters while not disturbing the animals. Did a lot of whale tours and never had such an experienced & skilled skipper, who genuinely love his job & the whales !! An informative, detailed speech & a great sense if humor too. Extremely good value for money, and again not the first whale tour done in Australia. Very good boat, built for this purpose. Overall, I can only recommend these guys.

Will def go back to Augusta & do it again !!

“Great day on the ocean”
Reviewed 14 June 2014 via mobile

My friend and I have just had a great whale watch tour with the boys from Naturaliste Charters . Really nice guys , very informative and knowledgable . Saw lots of humpbacks , all pretty chilled but still a great day . Nice to see they put the whales welfare at the forefront and are on a first name basis with them. Loved "Trixie" !

“Excellent experience”

We booked by phone for a whale watching cruise in Augusta. Booking and paying over the phone was very easy and the lady very helpful in answering our questions and gave us clear directions to the jetty.
On the day we were greeted by the skipper who ferried us and other passengers in a small dinghy to the big boat. Both boats were in good condition and the skipper and deckhand were professional and knowledgable while making jokes and making sure everyone felt comfortable.
While searching for the whales the skipper was very enthusiastic and informative telling interesting stories and facts about the different kind of whales.
We got to see a blue whale or maybe there were two, a very cool experience, such magnificent creatures.
I can really recommend this company as they did everything in their power to make it as good as possible for everyone on board.
