“Very Poor Service and Systems is an understatement”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 May 2014

4 of us recently went here for a quick breakfast before heading into Margaret River. They allow people to sit anywhere, so there is no structure or order of doing things- the tables are not numbered and this caused much confusion later on. After ordering 4 basic meals and 3 coffees, we waited 35mins before politely asking how much longer the coffees would be. We were told that they were very busy and would check. The waitress came back 5 mins later and said they would be another 5 mins. When they finally arrived they were lukewarm at best and almost undrinkable.

After waiting 55mins and still no meals, we had run out of time and needed to go. We headed up to the register to pay for the coffees and advise the wait staff to not bother with our food as we needed to go. The queue at the register was huge, with the main problem being that the staff did not know what table people were sitting at and had to print out all the table bills to work out which one belongs to who. Not only were there people lining up to pay, but others who had got fed up with waiting for table service and came up to order instead. While 4 wait staff were all looking at the receipts, pointing at tables and all getting confused, more customers continued to line up, blocking the throughway and exposing the very obvious inefficiencies of this restaurant.

When we finally got to the front of the line, they couldn't work out where we were sitting and the saga went on.
I was absolutely appalled at the laid back nature and efficiency of the staff when the place was clearly buzzing with hungry customers requiring service. Not once was there an apology or any effort made to rectify our complaints.
I will never waste any time ever again at this so-called restaurant.

“Not a lot of love”

We always come back to Samudra when we visit the south west to give it just one more chance to improve.....Unfortunately it hasn't - lousy service due to poor systems - confusion reigns! Overpriced average food, warm smoothies and bitter coffee. On the plus side, it is a beautiful location to enjoy a sunny day.

“Atmosphere, ethics and wonderful smoothies”

A vegan cafe with a great, light feel. Friendly service. Great place to relax and spend time. The smoothies are the high point and shouldn't be missed. Bali feel - Margaret River prices.

“Nice coffee and atmosphere”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2014 via mobile

We have been here before for meals but just stopped for coffee and a snack today. Beautiful coffee and smoothies. Lovely atmosphere and a variety of seating options, inside and out. Good service. The raw banana toast was not very palatable at all, as other reviewers have noted. I thought it overpriced for what we ordered. $27 for two coffees, one smoothie and one serve of banana toast. Parking is a nightmare because of confined space. We had great trouble getting out. Will probably go somewhere else in future because of prices. I enjoy seeing the veggie gardens there.

“Highs and lows”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2014 via mobile

The layout and decor of the place is interesting and nicely done but thst covers the high points.

The raw banana bread is absolutely vile. That was the unanimous view of all 6 in our party. But according to the waitress who overheard us critiquing the food, that is exactly how it was supposed to taste. Oops, our bad, sorry for hating on the vile banana bread.

We waited about 40 mins for the coffees (too long, even on a Sunday morning) and the other breakfasts all had faults with the exception of the chia trifle which was nice, apparently.

Not nice. Won't be back.
