The first and only reason you would consider staying at Yardie Creek Homestead is either the proximity to the Tantabiddi boat ramp for the fisho's or the proximity to the Cape Range National Park and its snorkelling locations- but hey what a great World Heritage listed location !!!!
The amenities are basic but clean and the atmosphere of the place is typical of any caravan park in Australia lot's of young families or elderly couples enjoying a relatively cheap holiday away from home.
The manageress provided us a lovely tree shaded camping spot in the non powered overflow area away from the tent city and we thoroughly enjoyed our one week stay there. Mind you we would only come back to shower and sleep. The rest of the time was enjoying the National Park.
The overflow, transportable toilet block could do with a good bulldozing and new facilities installed and I agree there is a distinct odour of septic water in the immediate vicinity which I hope is not contaminating their ground (drinking) water.
I rate this facility as as Excellent due to location, location, location !!!More
