Yardie Homestead Caravan Park
Reviewed 8 May 2014

Much of Australia's service industry could learn a lot from Yardie. Friendly helpful staff make your stay on the footsteps of Ningaloo memorable along with clean practical amenities and facilities. Well done, thanks for making our trip to swim with the whale sharks so good.

We stayed here for just over a week and loved it!
The atmosphere of this park is great! The facilities are everything you need and clean! The lovely caretaker is the best, so friendly and helpful! Also the cleaners are such a friendly couple! Location is perfect for the national park! We will be back and recommending it to others! Thanks for a very enjoyable stay!

We had a great stay at Yardie, it's in the best location for access the Cape Range NP and all the good snorkelling spots. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, giving heaps of advice on best places to go etc, even though we were there in peak time and they were very busy all day. While it was peak time and the campsite was full, the camping spots were spacious and never felt crowded, the showers and toilets were still spotless and I only had to wait for a shower once (we stayed 6 nights!).

The first and only reason you would consider staying at Yardie Creek Homestead is either the proximity to the Tantabiddi boat ramp for the fisho's or the proximity to the Cape Range National Park and its snorkelling locations- but hey what a great World Heritage listed location !!!!

The amenities are basic but clean and the atmosphere of the place is typical of any caravan park in Australia lot's of young families or elderly couples enjoying a relatively cheap holiday away from home.

The manageress provided us a lovely tree shaded camping spot in the non powered overflow area away from the tent city and we thoroughly enjoyed our one week stay there. Mind you we would only come back to shower and sleep. The rest of the time was enjoying the National Park.

The overflow, transportable toilet block could do with a good bulldozing and new facilities installed and I agree there is a distinct odour of septic water in the immediate vicinity which I hope is not contaminating their ground (drinking) water.

I rate this facility as as Excellent due to location, location, location !!!

Room Tip: If you have your own power supply a shaded spot in the over flow area is definitely recommended.

We visited the park over Easter and as it advertised shady grassy sites and TV you can imagine our disappointment when we arrives to find no grass no shade and no TV without satellite. We booked really early and asked for a shady site as we had dogs with us. It was to hot for dogs so they stayed in the lovely dog kennels in town. If I had known this in advance I would have booked the dogs into the kennel and stayed in a real park with at least some trees and where we could have TV and use our air con. At yardie creek could only use lights fridge freezer and fan so we really suffered as the heat got to us and we had to go out all day every day just to be cool. If we had known more about the park we would never have gone there.

We were a group of 5 families, staying in the 3 shearers sheds as well as a camp site and bungalow.
The location is brilliant, easy access to all the best snorkelling sites. We celebrated 2 birthdays, the staff at the cafe made a cake and even though we were dripping with sweat had a wonderful meal and a birthday that will be long remembered. This was our third visit and will definitely not be the last!!

We spent a whole week at Yardie Homestead and absolutely loved it. As it was low season, we almost had the whole campground to ourselves. Les and Maree were absolutely lovely hosts and we loved staying with them. From our site, we had a wonderful view of all the kangaroos and emus behind the fence and together with the galahs and corellas, Yardie Homestead had a magical atmosphere. The amenities were very good as well and our son loved the pool.
