“Wonderful stay overnight”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 August 2014 via mobile

Very impressed with the friendly reception by Gail and all the staff at the park. Lots of shade, good facilities and great hot chips from the restaurant. Well located for the fishing experience. We were travelling in a large group. Reasonable pricing for campsite.

Stayed May 2014 for 4 days. Old and tired facilities but clean.Great park to stay and handy to all the attractions in the area
New managers Steve and Gayle on their first week did an excellent job of checking us in and were quite knowledgeable of the surrounding areas and places to visit
Will visit again and the park comes recomended

I reviewed a year ago and as indicated at the time intended to return which we duly did for 10 nights during the July school holidays. This time instead of camping we stayed in the Shearer's quarters, they were fine, clean, reasonably appointed and comfortable enough for what we require. Ostensibly we use Yardie as somewhere to sleep, eat and shower as the rest of the time we are out and about in the National Park. As such the accommodation and the Homestead in general is just fine, basic and rudimental, but clean, well run and the showers have hot water and everyone observes the do's and dont's making it safe and friendly. I guess it is a symptom of how much 'camping' has evolved over the last 20 years that some reviewers still believe that Yardie is somehow inadequate or unsatisfactory. It provides all of the features and amenities required with the bonus of a small pool and a basic cafe/restaurant, just what some people want or expect I'm not sure.

If you like the testament to Yardie is that (like other reviewers) we have booked to return again next July, fair to say not so much for my and wife's benefit, but for the kids. They love it, the playground, pool, bike riding and of course trips with us in to the National Park for swimming, snorkelling, fishing or rambling, they have a great time and seeing them enjoy themselves so much makes it a no brainer to keep going back.

Next year we have booked for the Chalets which are fully self sufficient with kitchen, toilet and showers so next year I will review again and let you know how we went. In the meantime I would suggest that if you like the National Park, are happy to get a little dusty and don't mind seeing kids enjoying themselves give Yardie a 'go' I doubt you'll have a bad time!

Good location as really close (5km) to the national park entry where all the beautiful beaches are, also close to the meeting point for a lot of tours. But about 30min from the city center, don't forget your food!
Campsite in itself not really good: amenities really old but clean, campers kitchen without kettle and toaster (nothing using electricity, so nowhere to plug anything!), no drinking water in the bathroom (only one tap outside), and area around wasn't nice.
Fuel less expensive than in town tough.

Room Tip: Not at the back of the campsite (overflow)

It has been several years since we stayed at Yardie and it was good to see that the same family friendly atmosphere remains. The kids had a ball riding their bikes and swimming in the pool. If you are looking for flash properties this isn't the place for you, but if you are looking for the way holidays used to be this is the place. Nothing better than coming back from the beach to a cool patio and a hot shower. Not too far from Exmouth for a drive or to launch the boat at Tantabiddi. Plenty of space in the cabin we stayed at and the burgers from the restaurant were great too when no one wanted to cook. We have already booked for next year.

Location good - close to national park. Facilities basic but water in showers hot & did the job
The woman in reception was quite rude. This tallies with comments seen in wiki camps
Understand on limited power & there are rules but please don't treat us like 5 year olds when laying out the rules. Many of us just don't like it. Customer service lacking. Won't be back
