“Cocktails cocktails and cocktails”
Reviewed 28 May 2014 via mobile

We didn't stay here but did frequent the restaurant and bar often. Not for the budget wary but the food is to die for. Had some of the best cocktails I have ever tasted and a huge array. The view is breathtaking especially when there is a storm coming in. I found the middle of the day way to hot on the balcony but this goes for all of Exmouth. Can't wait to go back later on in the year

If you look for upmarket (whatever that is) than it is the only game in town. The architecture seems very appropriate for the region and presents well. The best I can say for the rooms (ocean view) is that they are large and that the shower feels great after a day of being around and about. The room is furnished like a motel and not appropriate for a $400+ price tag. Do not expect fresh bed sheets every morning, unless you request them before 10 am. The hotel is situated on the beach providing wonderful walks. Getting into town is easy enough with the hotel shuttle, but you are on your own after 5.30 pm and don't expect to walk it. I doubt that you will make it in less than 45 minutes. In summary it's family friendly and ok, but poor value.

M.Z.

Room Tip: It's ok, overpriced, but the only game in town at this level

As there were 3 in our party, we booked a 2 bed bungalow on the beach. Good rooms. Excellent kitchen and bathroom. Hot tub. And views directly onto the beach.
We wanted self catering as we like to cook and it also keeps the overall holiday price down.
Well, the beach isn't up to much, to be honest. The good beaches are on the other side of the cape.
The room we got for $525 so $175 each/night. Expensive yes, but also very good and, from what we saw of other accommodation, WAY better than anywhere else (see my 1* Sea Breeze review). I can't speak of the basic 1 bedroom apartments at $325.
We didn't try the restaurant, but prices seemed comparable with our area of WA and Perth. $40 for a steak/fish. $25 for a burger. Again, expensive but that's WA generally for you, let alone being in the middle of nowhere.
We chatted to a very friendly groundsman who bent over backwards to sort out heating on out hot tub. Very friendly and helpful. A new staff member. Reception staff were OK, too. Bar staff? Didn't really interact. Any minor maintenance issues were dealt with promptly, although the toilet sink did stay blocked for the duration of our 4 day stay.
No wifi in the rooms was an inconvenience but not a major drawback. Wifi in reception was not great.
We were there in the aftermath of a major storm and the gym was closed for a day. It's pretty basic and small anyway, but we got to use it.
Pool was good as is the landscaping.
They have film nights here too, (open to the public) which was good fun.
Minor gripes - the BBQ does not get very hot. No good for searing steaks. Your balcony is overlooked by next door, unless you are the very end cottage (room tip). There's evidence of recent garden planting to deal with the lack of privacy.
Let's face it, this whole town is expensive. You will pay through the nose for pretty much everything.
So, yes, Novotel is top of the range for Exmouth, but you do get what you pay for compared with everywhere else.

Room Tip: 2 bed cottage for $525 would be good value for 4 people. Otherwise try a rented holiday home.

stayed here and two other pots recently. No question this and the Excape resort are the best quality hotels in town. Others use the name resort but are old cabins and only slightly cheaper. Novotel a bit out of town so you need a car, but the location is worth it. Nice size rooms, excellent ensuite and roomy balcony. Only thing they didn't have a BBQ to cook on, and TV in comparison to room size is too small and should be mounted on the wall so you can watch it in bed. These are minor points which l; hope they fix but differently as five star form me.

This is a pretty beautiful spot, with comfy and stylish apartment style accommodation overlooking the beach, which is nice enough without being special. The rooms are pretty luxurious and the balcony a great spot to hang out if it's not too warm. The pool area is nice and chillaxed and the common areas in the resort are very stylish.

The problem with this place lies in the level of service. Most staff seem to be travelers and whilst generally well-meaning, service is very hit and miss throughout the resort. It's what's holding this place back somewhat and for a place that isn't cheap, you'd expect the staff to be more professional and better trained.

All in all a lovely place but with some limitations....

My partner and I stayed 2 nights. Yes the room was nice but for $405 a night we expected better- we had a downstairs room which faced a concrete wall so no views. No breakfast was included - you had to pay $28 extra for that and there was no wifi in the rooms. I've stayed at cheap hotels which had this so it really isn't good enough. The Pool towels are old and tiny and I found the staff to not be very friendly. Wouldn't go back based on the points above.
