“a special place”
Reviewed 10 September 2011

initially we wanted to be by the sea but 5 mins drive got us into yallingup! it was worth it to find the peace and quiet here (although our 4 year old made plenty of noise in the pool) the chalet was very clean and roomy and the pool was cleaned everyday. it was excelent value for money. the bushsack brewery a few mins walk down the road was a great place to go and had a childrens play area. if you have small children you would want a chalet close to the pool as they are very spread out, the benifits of which you are a long way from eachother.
it really is a lovely place

We stayed here as a group of 4 adults and a 2 year old sharing a 2 bed forest lodge. We found the lodge to be more than spacious enough for everyone. we were impressed with how clean the place was as our initial concern is that it would be "bug central". We saw tons of kangaroos and were paid a visit by the local possums in the evening. Our little boy really enjoyed his stay. the bedding (including baby cot) were crisp and clean, making our stay very comfortable. The onsite pool and BBQ areas are very well maintained and the resort is also ideally placed to local amenities, beaches and vineyards. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for a week and got a great deal through a discount internet booking site. It is in a fantastic location, cabins are surrounded by trees, quite private and close to wineries. Given the great rate we got we thought this was good value. We had a large lounge, kitchen/diner (which we thought was in need of refurbishment), decent bathroom and two good sized bedrooms. We were able to refresh our towels during our stay at reception and they also had a good DVD collection to borrow from.

It was quite cold while we were there and we found the heating to be completely inadequate with only one small gas heater in the lounge and nothing in the bedrooms other than an extra blanket in the wardrobe.

The pool/BBQ area looked quite nice but it was too cold to utilize it.

The cottages are in duplex form and we shared a laundry with another cottage. For part of our stay there was another family staying next to us and the noise traveled through the walls quite easily. When the kids were running around the whole place shook, literally. We were also kept awake by possums and other wildlife partying on our veranda and roof.

This place had me torn, such good value and so much potential if refurbished, but I couldn't recommend it to all my friends, just the budget or family travelers.

We were one of three couples who enjoyed a week together in this tranquil place. We booked two X two bedroom adjoining cottages. The cottages were surrounded by huge balconies where we sat daily and watched the bird life with our G&T in hand. There was a laundry shared between the two cottages with good washing facilities and clothes lines. The cottages were decorated beautifully with lots of internal space and were very comfortable in sleeping and sitting areas.
Facilities included a communal pool, tennis court and BBQ - quite a walk away from our cottages which made it a little difficult for barbecuing and bringing the food back to our dining room. There were also books and games available to borrow from Reception. There was no room service whilst we were there but we were able to get fresh towels from reception.
There are a number of cottages in the complex - all located separately and privately within the forest. Access to the resort is from the road between Yallingup and Dunsborough but is clearly signposted. The Bush Shack Brewery is located at the entry to the resort and we made good use of it during our stay.
Overall, a lovely place to stay if you are looking at getting away from the busy areas of Margaret River.
