We walked in by chance, after visiting the silversmith's gallery next door, and I am so glad we did! From the outside we thought it might be a little middle-aged and straight-laced for us, but once I saw the menu (a complete menu of dairy-free options, to suit my food allergies - there was also a separate Vegetarian menu, and separate Gluten-free menu) I was completely convinced!
The restaurant decor is simple but elegant, with warm sunny garden seating outside as well - we sat inside for our mains and then outside for dessert and coffee. The menu and food were the real highlight, though. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who went to every effort to ensure my food allergies were taken into account. There was even a dairy-free dessert, which is a rarity in my experience!
Delicious flavour combinations (I had the crispy-skinned fish, while my partner enjoyed the gnocci) along with generous servings left us feeling sated and happy. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a five star lunch at prices that make it a no-brainer. Oh, and the dessert was everything I'd hoped it would be!
