“Perfect Holiday Retreat”
Reviewed 7 February 2014

This is the place to be for a quiet holiday. The cottages are very well equipped. Spotlessly clean and spacious. We spend four wonderful days at the Butterfly Cottagage and wished we could stay on. In the mornings it's lovely watching the birds, blue wren, parrots and black cockatoo. A short drive to Dunsborrough to stock up the fridge for a great barbeque at the decked Veranda. Watching a beautiful sunset. Never seen a kangaroo up close. You will at Wildwood Valley. It might even visit you one right outside your cottage. A five minutes drive and you are at Smith Beach for a swim. Lots of beautiful wineries, visit to caves, beaches, lighthouse in the vicinity. Infortunatly to the fire restrictions we didn't get to eat woodfired pizza. It was recommended to us from locals as where the cooking classes. So much to do and not enough time.
We allready started recommending Wildwood Valley as the perfect holiday retreat.

Room Tip: All the cottages are great. Just pick one thats suits your needs. The website gives you very good de...

We stayed for 7 nights for christmas 2013 and stayed in the Blue Wren cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and and it was totally relaxing, we wish we could have stayed longer. So quiet , picturesque, and great location. The cottage was fantastic with a modern fully equipped kitchen (we even managed to cook our christmas turkey in the huge oven ) and very spacious bedrooms and living areas. My daughter enjoyed patting the horses and a friendly kangaroo. My husbands only disappointment was that the fig tree outside the back door wasn't ripe for the picking, he loves figs..... We look forward to returning again hopefully to do a cooking class as well and have recommended Wildwood Valley to our friends in Broome.

I've been meaning to write this review for quite a while now! My husband and I stayed in the Honeybee cottage in back in July 2013 for 4 nights. The lady on the desk was lovely and very helpful. If you're looking for a relaxing secluded break for a reasonable price this was perfect. The view front the porch was incredible, one you could also enjoy while soaking in the massive tub, watching the sheep below and kangaroos below in the valley which was gorgeous. The cottage was clean and cosy, though sometimes we found it a little hard getting the wood fire going as its something we're never done before. Its a decent distance away from the other cottages, we felt like we were the only ones around for a while.

There is a small kitchen but note it only has a microwave, kettle and fridge, there is no stove top or oven. There is a bbq out the back porch that you can cook on, which was a bit cold in the winter but we knew about this when we booked it so we were fine with it. The Retreat is close to a couple of nice wineries, but make sure you buy food and have meal plans figured out in advance as there isn't anywhere close by that we found to buy food from. Its a great base during the day to explore all the wineries around the area. Also if you're a light sleeper it can be quite noisy at night with the animals walking around, but you are in the middle of the bush and if you're a good sleeper you'll be fine.

Really impressed by how reasonable the price was compared to other accommodations in the area. The incredible view and the tub is the best thing about it, and as long as you're ok with the limited kitchen and the noises at night, it'll be perfect for your stay.

Room Tip: You cannot beat the view of the Honeybee cottage!

After arriving in Perth from the UK, this was our first stopover on our 2 week tour of the South West. We (my wife and I) stayed in the smaller (Honeybee) cottage for 3 nights and in a nutshell, everything was perfect. The accommodation was excellent - a very modern interior with everything we needed, including a beautiful bathroom and an exceptionally comfortable bed. The location was wonderful, off the beaten track, overlooking the wooded valley with only the kangaroos and the horse for company. Service was first class, very friendly and welcoming -.it was truly 'no worries' and a great first experience of Australian hospitality. We had a lovely stay and were sorry to leave. We would recommend Wildwood Valley to anyone who wanted good quality accommodation and in a tranquil and beautiful setting. It is a perfect base to explore the Bussleton, Dunsborough & Yallingup coastline and the Margaret River wineries.

We are so pleased we found Wildwood. My husband and I were travelling with our best friend, Ali from NZ. It was perfect for our needs - a lovely comfortable cottage (Butterfly), well appointed kitchen, and a 2nd bedroom and bathroom meant that we could all spread out. It was so close to the wineries and yet only 10 mins to Smiths Beach, which we could see in the distance. Siobahn made us feel very welcome with a good de-brief on restaurants, wineries and things to do. Vicki was helpful when needed and it was great to meet Carlo too. Sitting on the verandah enjoying our breakfast cuppa, we heard this twanging - that was Norman the horse signalling with his bottom lip on the fence wire that he wanted his morning carrot! Before hitting the wineries etc, we did our daily walk around the valley, often seeing a family of kangaroos, a fox, and lots of bird life.
Will definitely recommend this haven to our friends.

Been our 2nd visit and knowing what to expect at Wildwood we were so looking forward to returning. As before we could not fault Dragonfly Cottage it was very clean and well maintained, lovely comfy beds and good quality crockery & glasses etc.

Excellent service from Vicky when you needed her and great to meet the lovely Ann (Siobhan's mum) Do stop and chat to her if she's around!
