“Loved it! Beautiful accommodation and friendly owners.”
Reviewed 24 December 2010

We really loved Chandeliers. The decor and style of the chalets was lovely. The bathroom amazing with the lovely spa, huge shower heads and heated floors. The view was lovely and it felt totally secluded - i was surprised at how comfortable i was with the lack of window coverings! The kitchen had everything we needed and the basics in the fridge and cupboards were enough. We did have a bit of trouble as we had changed the dates a few weeks before and the owners had forgotton to change the cleaning roster and so when we arrived our accommodation wasn't ready. It wasn't a big deal - we went away and came back 1.5 hrs later to a beautiful chalet. The owners were generous to deduct $100 of our total bill and also give us a late checkout of 3pm to make up for this small issue. We really appreciated the way they compensated for this! Very Private - we never saw one person the entire time. So nice and relaxing - it the middle of everything in Margaret River/Yallingup.

Tucked away amongst the woodlands of Yallingup this was a tranquil, quiet, peaceful and luxurious place to stay- without breaking the budget.
There are only 3 chalets on the property and they are about 200 meters apart and secluded from each other by bushland and trees.
We stayed in number 2 and it was just wonderful to get away and relax. Waking up each morning and listening to the Kookaburras and other bird song, watching a mob of Kangaroos in the distant paddocks of a farm as the mist rises and the sun breaks through the trees was simply a marvellous way to start the day.
The cloudless crisp nights made it ideal to watch the stars and enjoy that warming glass of port or hot chocolate before retiring to the King size bed with its fluffy doonas, pillows and throw rugs.

Our chalet- #2- had a lovely layout and everything we needed for our stay and no corners have been cut either.

The kitchen/dining/lounge room:-
This is a large open space with timber floors, a well appointed kitchen, a dining table for 2 and huge U shaped leather sofa. A big plasma tv, Denon sound system and Foxtel add the finishing touch. From here you can walk out onto a deck or through to the bedroom.

Bedroom
This is a big bedroom with plenty of room to move. The carpeted floors are certainly welcome on those cold nights/mornings. Behind the bed head is a walk through robe, with plenty of storage room/ The fact that all your storage is “hidden”, also helps to maintain that tidy feel.
The bedroom also has a wall mounted tv and a lovely chandelier over the bed which adds that lovely finishing touch.

Bathroom
Wow!! Italian floor and wall tiles, a sunken spa with comfortable headrests and wonderfully private forest views. Sealed off from the spa by a wall, is a twin rain shower. The WC is separate from all this.
The heated floor tiles (not all them- but a row of them near the sinks and spa) once again show the thought that has gone into this property.

This is seriously a one heck of place to stay. Speakers in every room, the open flowing feel that has plenty of glass to maximise the views and let the “forest in” the way the chalets are placed and secluded by the bushland, along with the finishing touches, made this for us a wonderful 4 night stay.

You can also have a private couples in chalet massage, or your very own private dinner cooked by a chef in your chalet- with the added bonus that he also packs the dishwasher and tidies up for you.

Having read the previous reviews, I kind of knew what to expect from Chandeliers -secluded luxury without the personal touch. However, it was still rather disconcerting to drive up to the reception, walk through the open door and find an envelope with our name on it and the key inside with a little note from the owner apologising for not being there and telling us to just go on up to the chalet. Anybody else could have come and taken the key too! However, I guess that says something about how trusting the Ozzies are and how little crime there must be in the area!
The whole time we were there from check in to check out we did not see a single other soul (except for the private chef we had booked for one of the nights). We checked out the same way, just left the key at the reception desk and this time we were unable to reach the owner on her mobile phone to see it everything was OK. This would be great for couples who are after absolute discretion and privacy and don't want anyone to see them! Don't expect to be served hand and foot nor have a great friendly welcome.
The good points are many : On arrival, the lights, TV and music were on so it was nice and welcoming. The chalets are as luxurious as they look on the website and quite well-maintained. Good quality toiletries were provided, they even thought of the tealights for the bathrooms. The spa bath and double showers were a nice luxury. The kitchen is well-equipped and well stocked (down to a picnic backpack with pre-frozen ice-bricks)however it does need a proper cooker hood, the chef kept setting off the smoke alarm while he was cooking for us! We mostly enjoyed the great views from the glass walls except once when a truck stopped at the bottom of the hill and we could see 2 men looking up at us (albeit from very far away -but if I could see them surely they could see us?) down the road. We had to make a quick dash to the dressing room to fetch the bathrobes then pull the blinds down!
We asked for the room to be serviced on the second day and it was done up nicely.
The most memorable part of the stay was looking up at the stars in the night sky. It was an amazing sight, we have never seen so many stars anywhere else!
Mobile reception was available, which I understand is not the case at surrounding properties in the area.
Things that could be improved : we were quite disappointed with the choice of DVDs and CDs and so we could not really make use of the sound system to set the mood - for a place like this, which is obviously meant for couples, I would have expected at least a few romantic music selections and romantic movies, not action films! We would also have appreciated some verbal or written instructions about how to use the various kitchen appliances ( not everyone has dishwashers and induction hobs at home) and AV systems on arrival as well as a show-around the chalet. However, this was easily solved with a phone call to the owner.

My wife found Chandeliers on Abbey for our honeymoon - she couldn't have chosen a better place. Where to begin...

Each cabin is situated away from the others, so privacy is pretty much guaranteed. We stayed in the Forest Retreat, which includes a king-sized bed, marble bathroom, huge loungeroom with an awesome audio-visual unit, kitchen with lots of facilities, an awesome spa bath, separate showers, and an outside deck.

There are many aspects of the cabin which we'd like to eventually incorporate into our own house when we build, such as the sound system present throughout the house, and the bedroom TV that can play whatever's on the main DVD in the lounge (the entertainment system took a little getting used to).

On one night, we even had a chef, the gifted and delightful Grieg Olsen, come and cook for us. The food was outstanding, and Grieg was a wealth of information, as well as incredibly personable. I'd recommend this service to everyone, and it was worth the price.

Chandeliers on Abbey is relatively isolated, which is actually a good thing in some respects; the supermarket is only a few kilometres away, and I'd recommend self-catering, as the nearby town is pretty dead after dark.

We just had 3 nights at COA. It was wonderful, every part of it. From the magnificent chalet with its heated floors in the bathroom, the double shower, the furniture, the fittings and Foxtel and loads of movies to choose from. We had the breakfast and meal up package, which not only was there heaps for our stay, the food was delish!!
I do have to laugh at people making any negative comments about COA, as its a total luxury package for a reasonable price tag. And for those who commented on checkout and room being serviced, all I can say is read the chalet instructions....it tells you everything you need to know. Tho if I do have to pick a downside, well it would be definately we had to leave, but seriously, the only faults I could pick, was I didn't know how to use the stovetop and there wasn't any instructions for it, but i worked it out eventually.
The lack of blinds I thought was great. I even didn't think about it when I jumped into the spa, until the hubby said "close the blinds". It was quite isolated and chances of anyone seeing you are pretty slim. I really enjoyed the openness and uninterrupted views from each room.
We didn't meet Jody, but we did email before the trip and she was great in regards to us having to change our dates.
All in all we loved our stay at COA and will definately be back, it was a great relaxing experience.

We arrived easily to Chandeliers with the full directions provided prior to our arrival. Once we arrived it was a little hard to find someone to check in with, but we eventually tracked Glenn down and Jody gave us our key.
We were stunned as we drove up the hill by the gorgeous view. We were in Chalet 2 - a Forest Retreat. We unlocked our chalet door to be greated by a view of the valley below. The entire South side of the chalet is glass, affording a beautiful view of the fauna and flora.
We skipped through the entire property, checking out the huge spa (perfect size for two!) with view of the valley, twin shower heads, the bedroom (again with a valley view) and the huge deck where we could recline with a cold drink. The dining area was a part of the lounge and it was set with fresh flowers and napery - in readiness for our private chef Greg to dine us in the evening.
The private chef service was magnificent by Greg, not only was the food superb and fresh, we got to watch him make it and he provided brilliant conversation.
In all we stayed for 3 nights and didn't want to leave. The entire time we stayed we didn't see another soul, and it was blissful not to have to deal with a maid service or any other interuption. Thank you Glenn and Jody for providing this gorgeous retreat.
Chandeliers was only 10 minutes from Dunsborough, giving us the chance to play golf, plus go diving on the HMAS Swan. We visited the chocolate and cheese factories only 15 minutes away.

We spent 4 nights of our 2 week holiday in the Margaret River region at the ‘plunge pool’ villa on the ‘Chandeliers on Abbey’ property.

The spacious villa was beautifully decorated with quality fittings and the best spa bath we had ever seen.

However, our experience was tarnished by a few issues we experienced during our stay. Firstly the villa was not serviced once in four nights. Secondly, the function venue on the property is within hearing distance of the villa and were we woken one morning at 7:30am to loud music which continued to play until 8pm that evening. We complained to management and received no apology or offer to turn the music down. Thirdly, no one was present at reception when we went to check out at 10:00am. We, along with another party proceeded to wait for 10 minutes before calling the mobile number provided by management. We received a rude response over the telephone and decided to leave the keys with the other party rather than wait for management to arrive at reception as we were so fed up with the poor service.
