“Great Views”

A wonderful part of the world, Whitianga. These new apartments were spacious and comfortable and very handy to the heart of the town. A little too noisy even at the quiet time of the year we were there as the restaurant next door is very close. We enojed our time there but perhaps there could be more cooking utensils in the apartment as we love to cook the fresh seafood while on holidays. Air con would be needed in summer I think

Room Tip: Our third level apartment had great views but a bit noisy with the restaruant below and one next doo...

Returned to Melbourne (Aus) from Whitianga over a week ago and felt obliged to comment on this accomodation (first review ever). Had a fantastic time during our 2 weeks and found the service from the front desk was first rate. Both Jenny and Kel were very approachable, available (we arrived at 9pm on a saturday) and were genuinely interested. They even researched our babysitter prior to us enlisting her services. Considering this is a serviced apartment, I was impressed with the front desk's level of personal interaction.
With two children aged 3 and 18mths, my wife and I found the location to be very convenient. Playground across the road, shops/cafes in walking distance, beach 100m from the apartment. The lift in the apartment is great for prams/transporting shopping, the pool is handy, kitchen suitable for families, well furnished, undercover parking a bonus.
Was concerned about previously listed comments about noise from the nearby surrounds of the apartment (we travelled late Nov, thus not peak), but thankfully found it minimal and certainly not disruptive to children sleeping (however if located on 1st floor it might indeed make it louder). Early morning boat tractors also provided little noise to the apartment. Maybe I was expecting it to be a lot worse. Overall, the only major noise disruption I found was my own kids getting up each morning wanting to go on the swings across the road. Therefore, if you're keen not to be disturbed on your holiday, I strongly recommend you don't take my particular kids with you!

We the used apartment as a base to visit the region via multiple daytrips (Coromandel train, hot water beach, wineries, cathedral cove etc). As a previously well travelled tourist, am now coming to grips that family holidays are very different entity, but found the location to provide much entertainment and relaxation for the family during our 2 weeks.

Room Tip: Some rooms have aircon, some don't.

No air con meant that our stay during summer made it extremely difficult to get a good nights sleep. When we arrived we had 1 clothes hanger in each wardbrobe. When we asked for more was told they had run out!! 2 hangers between 4 of us was ridiclous. I ended up putting my clothers on the clothes horse and used this as a wardrobe which lacked a certain class!! For the price I feel that it was not really value for money.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment above the pool which happened to be also opposite the Wild Hog Restaurant downstairs. Because it was peak season, every night from dinner time til about 11pm at night (as well as from 8am in the morning) we would hear bottles constantly being emptied into the bins outside and general noise from washing dishes etc in the restaurant kitchen and the kitchen downstairs from the Apartment's restaurant also so we did have disruptive sleep. The washing machines did not have a dryer function (at least in our apartment) and there was no air conditioning which made it unbearable to sleep - we did find a portable fan in the 2nd bedroom cupboard on our last night stay which helped for us but our daughter was still uncomfortable. Overall though, it was a nice stay to the end of our 2 week holiday.

Great views from room. Great service from proprietors. Unfortunately it was incredibly noisy at night due to a pub in the building, as well as a pub next door and a park across the road. Because it overlooks the harbour there is also early morning wake ups (if you have been able to sleep) from tractors putting boats in the water. It was very hot when we stayed and as there was no air conditioning in the apartment we had to have all windows open making the noise worse

Clean an tidy....We had a apartment with 2 bedrooms..Both with en suites. also a toilet an basin in the laundry room.
Beautiful view out to the lovely harbour an also views to the pool and spa area from the apartment we were in.
Restaurant below served a lovely lunch. Staff at restaurant and complex were wonderful.

Only downfall was....... No air con.......not needed when we were there, but in the height of summer you may be needing it.
..... Also the noise from the kitchen below. ( This was on a quiet night an not in the high season)
Restaurant below served a lovely lunch.
Staff at restaurant and complex were wonderful.
All in all a great place to stay for wonderful service an stunning views.

Our apartment was was nicely furnished and had a great view. Very friendly people on phone when booking and on check in.
Even though the bathrooms were tiny, with only enough room for one person (just, and I am not big..)and bedrooms also quite small that wouldn't be enough to put me off.
What will stop us going back was the bed. This was the most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept on. In fact we didn't sleep because it was so bad.
Such a shame because it really is a great place to stay and I mark it average only because of the bed...and maybe the bathrooms.
