This is the place to go if you are very hungry. Wild hogs is a buzzy bar with outdoor seating & a view of the harbour. It was very busy on the Saturday night that we visited.
I chose a surf & turf salad which had strips of steak, scallops & prawns which had been pan fried; the salad was dressed with an Asian style mild spicy dressing ($22). The portion was huge but very tasty. My other half's steak, chips, green beans & mushrooms ($32) was also huge with crispy chips & delicious steak.
Needless to say we didn't manage puds as we were to stuffed.

Lovely to sit and overlook the wharf comings and goings. We enjoyed a very tasty pizza and wedges for a light lunch. Friendly and prompt service. Did not have to wait long for our orders.

My partner and I had a quick getaway to whitianga, and were hanging out for a good steak. Wandered around on a sunday evening looking for a such a place and came across this. Frankly, we were not dissapointed at all! Steak was perfectly cooked, very generous serving and arrived in a timely manner. Only one staff member out the front, who ran it smoothly and with a great manner! Very impressed. Will be back if ever up that way again and have recommended to others already.

Although the menu could do with some work, overall not too bad. New staff but not enough, however they managed and feed our table of six. Having to order at the counter slows the whole process as customers ordering and customer wanting to pay fight for the cash registrar. New chefs produced timely food, large scallops wrapped in bacon, rock oysters, cheesy pizza bread for entrees and mains of scotch, burger, ribs and a enormous warm lamb salad. Would like to see a new menu and new items as I dine here a couple of times a fortnight every four months.
