Had lunch today in the burnside hotel restaurant for the first time .. not really impressed .. soup potato
and leek very thick but quite tasty .. then bacon and chicken ceaser salad with limp lettuce and not alot of taste .. hubby ordered surf and turf as usual .. a burger on a bun covered with cold prawns and a strange sauce .. he thought she had brought the wrong dish .. lovely surrounding but food maybe needs a bit of improvement .. will give it the benefit of the doubt and try something different next time !!

Had a one night stay over at the Burnside Hotel as I had business in the area.Perfectly satisfactory for what I required,a good value for money place to get the head down.Staff were very friendly and helpful, check in was smooth and efficient.Room was clean and well appointed, and the bed was comfortable and gave a good nights sleep. The hotel has a couple of bars and a restaurant area which are well decorated and furnished with reasonable prices. It is situated in a relatively quiet area so no major noise problems(stayed at weekend so can't vouch for midweek).Service at breakfast was friendly and quick and the breakfast itself was very good, with a good choice of menu.

Stayed one night in this hotel, on arrival thought oh no, but once inside could not have been better. The staff are so welcoming, helpful and pleasant, No problems at all. Would definately stay there again.

The is only a few words to describe this place, old and tired. Staff were very friendly and thats the best bit.

Hotel reminded me of an old peoples home. Beds were too small, I'm only 5'5 and my feet were out the end of the bed.

And the noise, trains every 15 minutes between 6.30am and 11pm, only 30ft from the room window and a main road on the other side.

Breakfast was ok at best.

We were due to stay for 3 nights but moved to the premier inn an few miles further on.

Small point

Lunchtime. Place quiet, Ordered a can of Irn-Bru and a can of Diet Coke at bar. £3.10 if you please? What a mark-up! Needless to say, I wasn't in a hurry to spend any more money and get a further shock.

Room Tip: Hopefully the rest of their service will provide value for money

Christmas dinner - 3pm Christmas day. Soup - tasty but very small bowls . Main course - the usual turkey , roast potatoes , carrots , sprouts , parsnips , stuffing, nothing exciting .Other people had roast beef and salmon - both nice.Christmas pudding - tiny portion but tasty. Santa gave the children lovely gifts. While queuing to see Santa waitressess passing with hot bowls of soup , not very safe with excitable children. Table very small and no room for glassess , got jug of water but no glassess.

Stayed one night with my friend and it was perfectly acceptable. Yes the walls are thin and you hear literally everything but the room was clean, comfortable and perfectly acceptable. The breakfast was lovely and we couldnt fault the service.
