“Gorgeous B&B!”
Reviewed 2 December 2013 via mobile

Finglen House was the perfect base for our weekend break. Sabrina and Douglas were just the nicest people you could hope to meet and were so friendly - they made our stay feel so relaxed - it was like a home from home. Thanks to their advice we visited some great places, did some fantastic walks and had a lovely meal in The Old Mill in nearby Killearn. Staying at Finglen House was not only welcoming and comfortable it was like a miniature art gallery - a stunning house with so much to see. It was also so nice to stay somewhere that was so relaxed about bringing along our dog George.....he LOVED the stay too - he got lots of extra attention, made friends with the cocker spaniels and spent his evenings curling up in front of the fire in the lounge. We would highly recommend a stay at Finglen - we plan to return next year and are looking forward to it already!

I actually stayed at Finglen House back in August and have been meaning to write a review ever since. I was fortunate to be able to stay here whilst on a business trip and although only for one night, was made to feel very welcome and Sabrina, Douglas, Billy and their two dogs couldn't haven been any more inviting. The accommodation was superb and the setting is outstanding. Highly recommend!

Room Tip: I'm sure they're all good. I stayed in the Cream room and wish I could have taken the bed wi...

I stayed here twice as a stopover on the way to the Highlands and again on the way back home three weeks later. The house is comfortable, warm and welcoming, and it feels like staying in a friend's house; much nicer than an anonymous roadside hotel. The hosts are friendly and helpful and do a very good breakfast indeed. As I stayed in both rooms I can report that the beds are equally comfortable whichever room you are in. The area is very quiet with no traffic noise or light pollution so nothing to disturb a good night's sleep.

I chose this B&B as I was travelling a long way with my dog and wanted him to have a decent walk at the end of a long drive and in the morning before setting off again. Finglen House has a great garden for dogs being several acres with a spectacular river going right through it (not too deep!) and woodland areas to explore. For those wanting to go a bit further there is another woodland dog walk just outside the property which is accessible without needing to cross any roads. The owners have two extremely sweet cocker spaniels who add to the warm welcome. I would recommend this B&B highly.

From when you first drive up the drive to this lovely home you know you have come to the right place. This year the grounds looked lovely with all the rhodedendrons and azaleas in all their glory. The hosts Sabrina and Douglas are most welcoming as is their son Billy. Why would you want to stay in a chain hotel when you can stay here? Log fires in the dining room and sitting room add to the charm. We stayed in the red room which has it's own large bathroom with dual aspect windows looking over the garden and woods. It is pleasantly spacious with a sitting area,
Breakfasts were plentiful and cooked to order with free range eggs from their own hens. We recommend the scrabled eggs! This is a great base close to the Campsie Fells and only 30 minutes or so from Glasgow city centre. It is also close enough to allow day trips to the Trossachs and Bute as we discovered over our 3 night stay.
You may be welcomed (if desired) by the twod freindly Cocker spaniels.
Highly recommended if you want a homely B and B with helpful hosts who are good fun too.

Arrived to a log fire, a cup of tea and friendly hosts. Our 5 nights were excellent. A wonderful oasis within striking distance of many attractions, including some first class golf courses. Douglas and Sabrina are great hosts and great fun. We returned home well fed and rested and are planning a return visit.

Finglen is the perfect retreat for anyone exploring the Trossachs, taking a city tour of Glasgow or Edinburgh. Set in an idyllic woodland location, the house is a homely, yet stylish place to relax and is lovingly maintained by Sabrina and Douglas, who are always on hand to provide refreshment, advice or information on local walks and eateries. Our family of four were warmly welcomed and encouraged to treat the house as a second home. The girls loved the friendly dogs, cats and chickens as well as the tasty Scottish breakfast and comfy beds. We cannot think of a nicer place to stay when visiting the area and would heartily recommend everyone to pay Finglen a visit. We guarantee you will want to return!

Welcomed by a friendly host and two lovely cocker spaniels. A very pretty location not too far from Loch Lomand, Glasgow and Stirling. They had a fire, tea and cakes ready for our arrival. The room was spacious and the bed was large and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with fresh eggs straight from the chickens. We would definitely go back.
