“Fun hotel with good pool and hot tub”
Reviewed 14 June 2011

I arrived just as the evening reception with wine, cheese and crackers was starting.

Yes, cheap wine and cheese, but still good after a days driving and sometime in the Buffalo rush hour. I think that it starts are 5pm and goes to 7pm. Call the hotel itself to
verify.

The pool and hot tub were also great after a long day of driving. Mostly empty except for myself, even though the hotel was full.

The room was fine with comfortable and clean everything. And warm enough in the winter.

Breakfast in the morning was acceptable with no frills.

All in all, a fine hotel for a fun night.

Room Tip: Call ahead (days) for a better selection.

We booked our room online, and somehow ended up with a smoking room although we did not choose that online. When we checked in, we were told that the hotel was fully booked and we could not get a non-smoking room. The room smelled awful the second we walked in. When we returned home, all of our clothes smelled of smoke.
The rest of the hotel was fine.

Room Tip: Call and be sure to get a non-smoking room.

We've been staying at this hotel once or twice a year for the last 30 years. Not that there is any lack of hotels in this area, but it's comfy - if you're careful about room choice. The 2 queens in the middle of the hotel give you a spacious room with micro/fridge and relative QUIET. The Kings at the front of the hotel face the thruway and you have to be a pretty sound sleeper to have a good night. The hotel has no elevator, so more infirm guests want lower floor. The higher number rooms are on the flight path for the airport and are sometimes noisy early on weekend mornings. Breakfast is good and they are always upgrading something. They've recently added a small sports bar where the old breakfast bar was and that makes for a more pleasant atmosphere at night. The place is pretty old - it was originally built as a Howard Johnson's, switched to one of the first Holiday Inn Express, a Comfort and now a Clarion. Each change saw something added and was an improvement. But every stay is an adventure in what has broken down. They do try to keep ahead of things, Breakfast is always good and the staff are always helpful.

$112 for 1 night stay and parking for Upto 14 days. Room was clean and large, with king bed with 2 kinds of pillows, the down and feather ones were super soft. Free wireless in the rooms, free hot breakfast and free airport shuttle. Great value for cheap Canadians wanting to fly out of buffalo.

The hotel is very nice for low cost. The pool was warm, the hot tub soothed my aching muscles, the continental breakfast has a nice variety, and the beds were comfortable and fresh.
I wasn't overly pleased with the maids lack of cleaning of the bathroom and I left her a note. I think the sink and toilet should be wiped down every day, as needed.

Room Tip: Main floor in cannot carry your luggag

The hotel was well worth the money, my only concern was that they are the only hotel that I have encountered who request that you leave your keys when you are a park and fly customer. The front staff was very accomodating in showing me where and how they have the keys stored because I was truly quite upset at having to leave my keys for the week. I have had a parking lot lose my keys and I have driven home with someone's keys left in my windshield at a parking lot. So I am very leary. Otherwise the pool was really nice, the room was clean and had a little kitchenette so to speak and the courtesy breakfast was good. The pick up and drop off at the airport was quick and easy. It was a great stay and in the end my keys came back to me with no concerns, but if you are a nervous nelly this may not be where you want to leave your car unless you bring a spare set of keys with you when you stay.

They hire staff without social skills and no clue how to answer the phone. You would sometimes thing that is the criteria to be hired as desk staff. I'm not sure if the manager needs to finally be replaced or up the pay for the staff cause the service you get is never consistent. I guess the service you receive will depend on how long they have been working there and at what point they are jaded to talk to guests.

This is not a one time occassion, I've been here several times due to price agreements that have been arranged. So the roll of the dice service here is very real.

They have wireless service that stills open. Turn it off if you dont want customers using it. They still promote wired service which can also be terrible.
