We chose Catskill Lodge for the price, but it turned out to be a wonderful experience as well: a visually appealing house (like a small castle on the hill), old world charm, friendly hard-working hosts. We arrived on Friday night. Adam helped us with luggage, offered wine by the fireplace, and then had some convincing to do to inspire us to go night-skiing at Windham - we got so cozy and comfortable by the fire, completely falling in love with the place. He gave us his restaurant recommendations (they have menus of all local eateries) and reserved a table at Ocean Grill for us - yet another gem, just 200 yards away. We didn’t do the night skiing before - it was better then one might think: the trails were lit very well.
We stayed in the Windham room on the first floor, but Adam gave us a tour of the whole house, since we were the first guests to arrive. The second floor rooms are small, and each two share a bathroom - a good deal if you go with friends, especially if you take the Ski&Stay packages. The master suit on the 3d floor is unbelievable for its price - it takes the entire floor.
All Miller brothers were there for the weekend - always available for every need. They are humorous, entertaining, hard working and simply nice people. And they know what their customers need: WiFi and a laptop for the guests, iPod docking stations in the rooms. They run a shuttle bus to/from Manhattan - all kinds of things that large hotel take years to “implement.”
Thank you, Adam, Aaron and Dan for your hospitality that made our skiing vacation an unforgettable experience. We’ll definitely come back
