I came here not really having high expectations and just looking for some peace of mind and quiet. Getting here was fairly easy as I drove from Long Island. The yoga class I took was really great! it was two hours (first half hour was mostly breathing practice) and really relaxing. The instructor made sure that he would modify any positions that we needed and also helped us physically reach the poses as well.
The food was amazing! I never eat healthy and am always on the run but it was nice to sit around and just eat things I never would have made (carrot soup, broccoli and kale saute). The main sitting room is filled with benches and there is also a small tea room. Yes you have to wash your dishes but really it takes a minute. There are not any tables to eat so you can sit on the benches or grab a tv tray or even sit on the floor in the yoga studio. No biggie!
You do not have to get up at the crack of dawn when the gong rings but all in all I went with a close friend and met a few nice people. The rooms were comfortable and honestly it was a very private retreat if you wanted to just kick back and be mindful. My friend made an observation that some of the staff seemed miserable and almost zombie which I noticed as well but you'll find that anywhere and Im really good at just ignoring rude people.
Overall had an enjoyable weekend and would go again.
