The trail to the lookout is about 2.5 miles, although there is an option to take a fork near to the top out to another trail for a further 6 miles-time prevented us doing the extended longer trail.
The trail is easy to moderate on grade although we are fairly hiking fit after a couple of weeks on long difficult trails in Yellowstone and the Tetons.
Nearing the top are the ruins of an old hotel, and the lookout is about 10 minutes further on from here.
At the top is a fire observation tower and there are great views from here. There is also a lookout point about 100 meters past the ranger hut and basic rest room.
If you push it out on the clim it should take about an hour and a half, and the return took about 50 minutes.
The nearby town of Woodstock has excellent restaurants, coffee shops and other artist shops and itself it worth a visit
