“Not worth the money”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

This is probably the most difficult review I have done for trip advisor yet. First, MOTORCYCLISTS beware! If you, like my husband and myself, travel with big touring bikes be aware that the driveway is slanted and is all pea-stone. Granted, this is the first time in our traveling that I had forgotten to ask what the driveway and parking areas were like, my fault! It was difficult to park and extremely difficult to back the motorcycles in the morning on the slant on the P stone, it was very very slippery. The room we had, unit nine, looked cute in the pictures. Cute I will admit but tiny beyond belief. The bathroom was the worst part as other reviewers have said. It was difficult to sit on the toilet and not bang yourself on the sink. If you are a large person, forget it you will not fit! The eco-friendly soap products that they provided have the worst odor of any I have ever tried. The odor stayed with me all night very caustic smell. Their website said some rooms have coffee makers and that there is coffee in the lobby. Well, the small rooms do not have coffeemakers. I was told only the larger rooms have coffeemakers. This would be fine except that the coffee that was available in the lobby was only available when the lobby was open. The lobby/office closes at 7pm and does not reopen until breakfast at 9 AM! We do not usually stay at an inn until 10 o'clock in the morning! We are usually on our way by 8 AM. Therefore breakfast at this inn was useless to us. I was told that we could walk up into the village for coffee in the morning. This would be fine except that the walk consisted of an uphill walk on a very narrow street with no shoulder to walk on and fast-moving cars. There was a vending machine on the property but I was told by the lady at the office that the owner had not stocked it recently, therefore they were absolutely no beverage choices available on the property from 7 PM to 9 AM. So, all in all, I felt that the patrons who chose one of the smaller rooms are second-class visitors, no drinks or coffee available for us! Is it really so hard to put a coffee maker in every room, especially when you do not provide it in the lobby 24 hours a day! Not a horrible place, but definitely not worth the money.

Room Tip: Do not choose a small room unless you wish to feel like a second-class patron.

We appreciate you taking the time to write and letting us know your concerns. There must have been a misunderstanding since drinks are always available in the office or through an honor system and please know, if asked, we certainly provide coffee makers for any room at the Inn. We want all our guests to thoroughly enjoy their visits. Room sizes do vary on our property and many guests have found the standard rooms are a nice option for their needs.
As always, our innkeeper is available around the clock to address any guest concerns if they arise. (Her contact information is displayed in the office should she have stepped out.) And although we've had many motorcycle guests stay without an issue, we weren't aware our lot was a concern. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. We hope the rest of your trip was more enjoyable.

This inn is on a beautiful mill stream, great to swim, relax and enjoy the forest - at the same time very close to the town. They have a great, cold breakfast included, with fruit, yogurt, lox (wonderful salted fish) etc. The single rooms are small, but in summer who stays there? Easy to book rooms with a very friendly staff. We have been staying there every summer once or twice and in winter for our anniversary. A can't miss!

Room Tip: Easy to book rooms on line with photos, descriptions and availability.

Beautiful, peaceful property (my compliments to the gardeners). Immaculate room, cozy and charming. Delicious breakfast. Friendly staff. Walking distance to the very special village of Woodstock New York. Lots of unique shops and great restaurants. Meandering side streets and beautiful country roads. Perfect.

Room Tip: I don't have a point of reference, but #11 (cottage) was a wonderful room.

Thanks for noticing our gardens – and gardener. Mother Nature helps with the setting, but nothing replaces a real-live green thumb. Glad you had a perfect stay.

What a delightful inn. We stayed at the inn in late June, on the way from MD to VT, one night. We spent the day at Hyde Park, and then drove up to Woodstock. This place is lovely. Beautifully landscaped, a peaceful stream, plenty of terrific outdoor seating. The rooms are cozy and well outfitted. The bathrooms were clean, and the bed was super comfy. I slept like a rock. The included breakfast was just great, too - plenty of vegan options, almond milk, etc. it's a great bargain, too. I will definitely be back.

Room Tip: All the rooms seem to be about the same, all one level.

I was pleasantly surprised with this motel establishment. It was on a nice piece of property that was very well kept. The room was very clean, freshly painted with comfy beds, nice linens and organic soap/toiletries that I loved. I had room #9 which was two twin beds. It was very small, but just right for me. There was quite a large closet, an A.C. unit in the wall, wifi, and flat screen T.V. The bathroom was small but adequate and clean. There was good water pressure and plenty of hot water. There was a shower, no tub. Breakfast was served at 9:00 a.m. which was too late for me, so I didn't try it. I had read about geese poop on someone else's trip advisor review and about an unfriendly caretaker. I didn't experience either. The woman who gave me my keys was very pleasant. The lawn had no geese poop. There were beautiful falls here and plenty of places to sit and enjoy them. Some people were swimming, which was also easy access from this property. The property had a hammock, picnic table, and benches, and plenty of lawn for children. There is a lovely porch to sit on. It was a quick walk to all the shops and restaurants in town. I enjoyed my stay and would stay there again.

Sounds like this vacation was just right for your needs. Glad it worked out and our lovely lawn that’s a great spot for children (and those who are young at heart) is actually aerated in spring with cores from the soil, not geese droppings as one guest suspected. Hope you can return soon.

Great continental breakfast with the best granola! Our two room cottage was very clean and comfortable. The setting is gorgeous overlooking the millstream. You can hear the waterfalls, very peaceful! Great location for exploring the area. We walked into town every night for homemade sorbet or ice cream!
