Let me begin by saying that Bald Head Island is one of my favorite places in the world! I am also not criticizing the quality of the food at Pelicatessen - nothing to write home about, but not bad. However, you can count on waiting for your food - even breakfast - for 45 minutes at the minimum! I am not sure why the service is that painfully slow - I am not sure where they find the staff who can't cook an omelet in less than 30 minutes with a 2/3 empty café, but in our experience it has never taken less than that. The view is OK, but even watching the same people swimming laps in the pool underneath the deck you are sitting on gets somewhat boring after 40 minutes. This morning we had to leave the café when we were informed that after waiting for 45 minutes for our 3 omelets, it would be 10 more minutes before we would be served. There were at most 6 tables occupied at the café at that time. You can get exactly the same food at the small eatery at Maritime Market for the same price and 10 times faster. If you are already at the pool, and want to grab something to eat (figuring you might get hungry in an hour - so plan ahead), by all means, order at the Peli. Vacationers are on the "turtle time" on the Bald Head, but I think the Peli takes this expression much more literally than any other service people on the island.
