“Great staff and a lot of fun!”

This rafting adventure was perfect for all ages! We had age 11-76 on our raft. Our guide Jamie was awesome - funny and definitely the best looking guide of all of them! The bus ride was fun with music and jokes. The rafting was not scary and we loved the "jump rock!" My dad even jumped off at age 76! Highly recommend High Mountain in Banner Elk. This was called the Watauga River rafting adventure.

“Fun day with a great guide”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 September 2013

I'll start with the only downside of this trip the early start time of 7:00 a.m. for the Nolichucky River Rafting trip. There is some drive time (75-90 min overall) to get to the put-in spot, but our driver was a bit entertaining and we mostly closed our eyes until we got there.

Josh was our guide and he was fantastic. And he does all the hard work, so we didn't even have to paddle that much; only when he called out strokes to us. He was knowledgeable not only about the river, but also about many aspects of our ecosystem and environment. Definitely enjoyed talking to him throughout the trip.

Each set of rapids (class 3 & 4) is a bit unique and we enjoyed them all. Do come prepared with dry clothes for the trip back and know that you will definitely get wet, even if you don't fall in. This was the first time for almost all of us and we are ready to up our game to some class 5 rapids next time!!

“Awesome!”

We had a group of first-time white water rafters with kids ages 5 to 12. We picked the Watauga river for an calm first experience, and we had a ball! Jeff was quite entertaining (I am going to bring a "bucket" for him next time I come)! The whole group made everything really easy and fun. We are ready to go again!!

“A Wild Ride!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 August 2013

Our first time rafting the Nolichucky could not have been better. We were a little apprehensive with the river running so high and fast, but having Sheay as our guide made the experience fun, safe and exciting. Sheay's professionalism, level of training and experience is quite impressive. And, he's quite funny!
High Mountain Expeditions is top-notch. We would highly recommend both Sheay and HME.
