We have been going here for 18 years. Have seen them go through 2 different owners. All the changes that have been made have been positive ones. We prefer the units with upstairs master bedroom. The cathedral ceilings make it feel so open. We love the fireplace in each unit and the balcony. We have stayed in several different seasons and in many different configurations of the units. The advantage of going back to a familiar place is being able to ask for what you want or need for your family. Kitchen is fantastic. We save so much by being able to cook our meals. There is lots to do in the area, or you can do nothing and just enjoy the property. We hosted our granddaughter's college graduation party here and there was plenty of room for 20+ people for our Mother's Day breakfast celebration. No...... they didn't all spend the night. Also, my husband has a service dog and this is one of the most accommodating places we have stayed. Our fur baby gets lots of exercise when we stay here.

Room Tip: If you need a unit that's all on one level, be sure to ask for it. Balconies are larger on the...

This was our fourth visit to Blue Ridge Village. The resort has now added two cabins. One has three bedrooms and the other has two. We stayed in the two bedroom cabin and really enjoyed our stay. The lower level houses the master bedroom and sitting area (two chairs and a small table between them), a gas log fireplace, Bose surround sound and DISH TV. The master bath is very spacious with a jacuzzie tub. The kitchen, dining and living area is on the second floor and the second bedroom is on the third floor. The living area is not very large with one sofa that converts to a bed and one chair. The fireplace opens to both the living room and dining room. The kitchen is quite small with minimal storage are for your own food supplies. All in all, we enjoyed trying out the cabin. It makes you feel special to be in a separate housing. However, my husband says he is perfectly happy staying in the renovated two bedroom condo units where there are not stairs to climb and it's easier to load and unload. As for me, I can't wait to go back and stay in the three bedroom cabin!

Room Tip: Some of the units are on one floor others have two. Since we are not so young, it is easier for us...

Everything was nice. The place is a bit dated but still had all we needed. The hills created a challenge in the snow not because they were slippery but because they plowed only 1-1/2 lanes and when one car goes up you need to back-up or wait for the other car to pass. It should not be listed as a hotel since it is really a timeshare. There is no daily room service or restaurant onsite.

Room Tip: Try and get a room near the main lodge because that is where the pool is and if it snows the roads a...

The renovated units look nice and the close proximity to stores, restaurants and ski slopes is a plus. Also appreciated the WiFi and the flat screen TVs.
Now for the cons: Walls and ceilings are paper thin - you can hear everything that your neighbors are doing and it makes for an especially unpleasant experience when your upstairs neighbors have children who think running and jumping off the furniture in their unit is fun and continue to do so past 10:00pm. When we complained to the front desk and to security staff, they shrugged it off like they had heard these complaints a million times.
Unit was not especially clean - I was excited about the jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom until I saw the slimy green stuff around the nozzles in the tub.
The half eaten cookies (not ours) we found under the couch cushions when we went to pull out the fold a bed were just nasty.
We came here to ski and were very disappointed that there was no shuttle to the ski slopes - when you're competing with lodgings that offer ski in/ski out access, one would think that a shuttle to the slopes would be offered.
There are better places to stay in Banner Elk and I do not recommend this place.

We have been to Blue Ridge Village 2 times. Once we went as a couple, and the next time we brought family members with us. Each time we had a 2 bedroom unit.

I have to say we were a little hesitant upon seeing the outside of the units but once we got inside we were totally surprised. The two-bedrooms in one building offered large outside decks on two floors and the two bedroom in another unit offered one small balcony. The furnishings were 'mountain style' and all done in good taste. The furniture was new and everything was
clean.

There was a hotdog and marshmallow roast the evening we arrived which was a lot of fun holding sticks over an outdoor fire! The roast was complimentary and greatly appreciated after a long drive. The resort overlooks a lake and has several pedal boats for guest use, free of charge.
Major attractions of course were the Blue Ridge Parkway along with Grandfather Mountain.

We will definitely return as we totally enjoyed walking to the lake in the evening with a glass of wine and sitting on one of the benches!

Room Tip: One-bedroom units by the lake are small and don't have a balcony. Pay the extra for a two-bedroo...

We had 3 adults staying two nights and only spent evenings in the room. Our room was a 1 bedroom condo. Small kitchen, small dining table (seating for 4) 2 small stools at counter/bar, pull out sofa and a chair. The bedroom is quite large with a king size bed and Chair. The bathroom has a sink with small amount of counter space, 1 person shower and a nice sized whirlpool tub.

The positives: The place is very close to the sugar mountain entrance!!!! There is a grocery store very close as well. Several restaurants and small shops on Tynecastle road. The décor of the room is very nice.
The condo sleeps a max of 4 and if you have visitors there is seating for 11, it would be very crowded but can be done. We had six seated comfortably.
The bedroom is quite large and there is plenty of room for a crib, cot or sleeping bag without stumbling over and had its own TV.
The king size bed was very comfortable.
The property is really very pretty, there was a small children's playground across from our building and a stream.
Although we only interacted with the staff at check-in, they were very nice.

The negatives: The pull out sofa is a double so if two are going to sleep on it you had better be small or used to sleeping close together. I was told that it is very uncomfortable. There were only 5 down (3 in master, 2 for sofa) pillows available in the room. There was only 1 blanket available for the pull out sofa (he regretted not asking for another blanket).
Some of the kitchen cooking utensils were dirty and needed to be washed before use.
The whirlpool tub was dirty and needed to be cleaned before use and there were no cleaning products available in the room so we had to use bar soap and washcloth to clean it.
The shower - #1 a note to indicate the H for hot is actually cold would have been nice. #2 due to the small shower, if you turn the water on full blast the force of the water bypasses the curtain and ends up on the bathroom floor. Also due to small shower you can get that full blast right into your face depending on your height.
The building is older and showing its age as there was mineral buildup on the sink faucet and some tiles along the bottom of tub had no grout and the small toilet rocked when you sat on it.
Supposedly there is wifi but we were never able to use it. Thankfully we had 3g smartphones so it wasn't an issue.

Overall, with the exception of having to clean the tub, the negatives were rather minor.
We would definitely stay there again, for skiing weekends, but if we had to spend longer there and/or require dependable internet, we would not.

We were a little bit concerned after reading some of the negative reviews about this location but, were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The night security staff checked us in as we arrived after hours and they were very courteous and friendly.

The room was clean and had most of the pots, pans, utensils, etc. needed for cooking. The room had 2 cable TV's, a washer and dryer, dishwasher, stove, microwave and more. The fireplace and jet tub were a nice added touch. The indoor pool and hot tub was also within walking distance of our room.

Sugar mountain is less than 15 minutes from the resort and beech mountain is less than 25 minutes so you can have your pick.

We definately give this place a thumbs up and can't understand why people wrote negative reviews about it. Maybe they have remodeled recently.
