The Beaufort Historic Site is a small area that has five or so buildings preserved from areas in the town. They are adjacent to the Visitor Center. As such, it is interesting, but not as much as the guidance you'll receive at the visitor center from volunteers there. Use their wisdom to fuel your walking tour of Front Street and beyond. I recommend you avoid the "tourist trap" amenities like the double-decker tour bus. Egad! There are many beautiful old homes in Beaufort, but they are not part of a "Historic Site." They are Beaufort. Get some walking tour information, an ice cream cone, and have some fun!
