While in an excellent location right near Front Street, the inn is in need of the repairs of an old house (roof was still in repair, doorknobs loose). Our bed was very comfortable, with en suite bathroom (though sink needed a more thorough cleaning) with a tiny shower stall. Breakfast was serve-yourself with a melon wedge, coffee cake, storebought bread and English muffins with a toaster, yogurt, and an assortment of mini-cereal boxes. Perhaps that was mentioned but for $135 I expected something like eggs or pancakes. The owner appeared now and then to ask if we needed anything but pretty much no proprietors were visible. Not unfriendly, just.. not around.

Room Tip: I liked that our 2nd floor room was accessible with outside back stairs, not having to come through f...

We arrived on Friday early evening. Our check in was a key left in a basket with a note attached to the front door which was fine. Our room was the Queen Anne Suite....very disappointed. The online photos were much better than the suite. The comforter was not the same as photo. Also, as I was getting out of the tub, the handle came off and tub was cracked..The Inn desperately needs a total renovation and furnishings appear to be "Flea Market" purchases. We went to the
breakfast but was quite simple. We did not go back for breakfast the next am....There are several great restaurants close by within walking distance but no waterview from the Inn. There are 2 bicycles available for use. Inn states sodas & water are available in a frig upstairs...no longer. Not planning to return...

Room Tip: Call and ask lots of questions!!

We stayed 3 nights the end of June and loved the proximity to the wharf, restaurants and shops.
Very quiet, loved rocking on the porch listening to the rain. Wi-fi kept cutting out when I tried to use my Kindle Fire. It could use a face lift soon, but I would recommend it. The breakfast was great.

Room Tip: Ask about thermostats in the rooms. Mine (Beaufort Suite) didn't have one and I was a little wa...

We got there during a major roofing project, it happens it is an old house. The host was nice, smooth check-in and informative. All the great restaurants are within walking distance. B&B was full yet very quiet, clean room and common areas. Breakfast was suited for older clientele, but good quality and ample. The location is perfect for walking to the waterfront. The town is immaculate, saw city workers walking the streets with brooms/dust pans, almost Disney like. I would recommend this as a relaxing place to stay.

pro : the location one block off the port, the great restaurant in front, the "front desk lady" : a character, the breakfast, the bikes you can use for free
Cons : the owner, just walking along in the house, the air conditioning, too cold (we got flu) and nothing that can be done according to the owner.........
inside and outside everything need a big refreshment

This was one of the pricerier places we stayed during our recent North Carolina trip. It was dissapoitingly tired. We paid an extra $50 dollars for the large king room, but the mattress was well worn and did not provide a good night's rest. Also the breakfast provided, while nice, was continental, self-serve - not what we would expect for the most expensive B&B in town.

The inn-keepers were great - attentive, but not intrusive and the location was great.

Room Tip: Skip the king room for a better night's sleep.

This bed and breakfast inn was truly a surprise. The setting, one half block from the main street on the waterfront in a residential area, was tranquil. The inn was beautifully restored with comfortable rooms, bathrooms and great views. Plenty of porch space to sit outside reading, talking or having tea/coffee/breakfast, and take in the sweet air. The breakfast was different every day, with fresh-cooked pastry, fresh fruit, a selection of coffee and tea, plus the chance to eat alone or with company. Two bikes were available for touring the nearby streets and exploring the diversity of homes dating to the 1700's. We would definitely return.
