This was the most peaceful, relaxing place I have ever stayed at. The rooms are clean and beautiful, the views are breathtaking, and the people are SO kind! This place is just so warm and inviting, I wish I could live there!

The Arbor House was everything we had hoped for when we decided to celebrate our anniversary. The scenery was amazing, from the beautiful gardens right outside to the scenic lake beyond the deck and the mountains stretching into the distance. Carolyn was such a gracious host offering a sumptuous breakfast each morning and going out of her way to make us feel at home. Each room is beautifully decorated, spaciously furnished and is adjoined by a large well appointed bath. We could not have hoped for anything better than this truly lovely B&B. KR

Room Tip: Greybeard has beautiful views.

What a fabulous getaway! We can't say enough nice things about Arbor House - the environment, the atmosphere, the hosts... EVERYthing. The whole experience was simply incredible. The pictures online, although fantastic, just don't do this place justice. You've got to see it for yourself - you won't be sorry! A BIG thanks to the B&B owners, Carolyn and David for providing such a clean, peaceful and friendly home away from home. Oh... and did I mention the food? Breakfasts were fabulous. We find ourselves craving those scrumptious meals even now!

After one of our many visits to the Asheville area, my 83 year old mother went on a quest to find a new B&B where we could stay. We had already stayed at many of the local B&B's and she was anxious to find one that was different. The minute she saw the Arbor House she fell in love and we planned a mother/daughter weekend in Black Mountain. The pictures did not do the inn justice and of course pictures cannot describe Carolyn and David Johnson, the innkeepers. Needless to say we were delighted with our room and our visit at this lovely place. What is different about The Arbor House is that it goes beyond the typical B&B. It is not the Victorian renovation make do, but a complete rebuild that suits every room particularly to the B&B experience. The rooms are immaculate and wonderfully decorated in tasteful and comfortable decor. The temperature was perfect round the clock and the views were incredible. It seemed that Carolyn had been created as a perfect friend to all of us with wonderful adventures to share and stimulating discussions generated. The food was beyond wonderful and beautifully displayed. The couple had themselves visited many B&B's and I think they brought back how to provide the perfect guest experience. They took the time to research meet the needs of every guest. Evidently my mother had told them that I was diabetic and I was asked upon check in what they could do to accommodate my dietary restrictions and it was provided without my feeling left out of the breakfast experience. My mother is handicapped and while the bathroom was large and clean and well appointed, I could not allow mother to take a bath in the shower as there was nothing for her to hold. This was not a problem for me or I am sure 98% of the guests. We also had to bring a toilet topper as well to allow easy access for mom. However we have to do this at almost every B&B and hotel we visit. ( I am not sure why they do not put high toilets in all rooms now as the cost is minimal between the lower and higher toilets) But this in no way offset the absolutely superb experience we had. Though there was a festival in Black Mountain while we were there- we were both perfectly happy to read on the front and back porches and to experience the amazing hospitality that was The Arbor House..

Room Tip: Either first floor rooms are perfect for handicapped as they are only about 20 ft from your car door...

I've stayed in B & B's all over the USA, but never any that compared to the Arbor House in Black Mountain, NC. The home is beautifully decorated throughout, the breakfasts are outstanding, the view is magnificent, and the hosts David & Carolyn Johnson are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet. If you're ever in the area, do not miss the experience of a night or two at the Arbor House in Black Mountain, NC. JRM - - from Florida

Room Tip: The Arbor House has only four guest rooms, all of which are lovely. With such few guests at a time...

We had a wonderful stay here. The breakfasts are delicious and so filling. The rooms are comfortable with huge modern bathrooms. It sits on a lake with walking paths. The town of Black Mountain is within walking distance which is a real plus. It is fun to walk through the neighborhood on the way to downtown. The innkeeper is a talented gardener and it is so relaxing to sit on the deck and look out on to the garden and lake. The innkeepers were very gracious and helpful. This Inn had been highly recommended and we were not disappointed! My ONLY complaint is I wish they had bigger TV's as we enjoy watching movies but it was really not a big deal. And some people may prefer no TV. They have a good selection of DVDs.

Room Tip: The downstairs room facing the lake is spacious and very comfortable. the bathroom is large with a...
