“Great price, nice staff”
Reviewed 10 September 2005

Stayed at the Alpine Village Inn a few weeks ago while in town for a wedding. Waited 'til the last minute on a busy weekend, and this was one of the few places still available.

Overall, it was a perfectly nice little place... especially for the money (we paid $89 for a queen room). It's clean and close to everything (Blowing Rock is a very small town... and pretty much all of the hotels/inns are within walking distance of the little square area.).

The room was about the size of a guest bedroom in a normal house... kind of smallish, but no big deal. There was a bed, two arm chairs, a desk, a dresser and a tv stand. There's also a microwave and mini-fridge in the room if you were interested in using anything like that.

The only problem we had (and it's more about me being spoiled at home than a true gripe) is that the bathroom was TINY! I mean TINY! There was no place to spread out all my bathroom junk... which was kind of a pain. But really not a big deal.

The decor was all antique and country charming, which I totally don't dig... but whatever. The room DID smell a little bit musty/funky... but we bought a candle and burned it for a while... no problem.

Overall, I would say the Alpine Inn is a great place is you're looking for a simple, inexpensive place to sleep in Blowing Rock.

The Alpine Village Inn was such a pleasant surprise for us! We wanted to get away for the weekend, and found this Inn on the internet. It turned out to be such a great place! The rooms in this Inn are more like bedrooms. You feel like you're staying in someones home instead of at a hotel or motel. Quilts on the bed, real furniture instead of "hotel" type furniture and fluffy pillows and towels all make you feel very "at home". There are rocking chairs outside your door as well as a gazebo in the front where you can sit and look at the garden (very beautiful). The whole Inn is very comfortable and quiet. The bathroom was a bit small, but, it had everything we needed. Excellent choice if you're looking for a place in Blowing Rock that is unique. Will not hesitate to go back.

I recently returned from a "best friends fall foliage peeping" trip. We stayed at a many of types of accomadations from New York to the Smoky Mountains. And this was by far the best little place we stayed in. The attention to detail in this little Inn was above and beyond any high class establishment. They beds were covered with homemade quilts and cordinating sheets with plenty of soft fluffy pillows for every one. Scented candles in sconces made the place smell wonderful and the towels were washed with regular detergent and smelled great, unlike the sterile commerical detergent the big chains use. It was a real pleasant stay, the gardens and gazebos were a great way to enjoy the mountain air and peace of mountain life. The room felt more like a bedroom in a cozy home, and that was a real treat after staying in the less than sanitary chained owned Hotels or Inns. The town of Blowing Rock is a real treat in the mountain, I highly recommend if you can get a room in this Inn that you take it. I had the most enjoyable stay inside the room as well as outside relaxing on the front porch in rocking chairs or sitting in the gazebo in their gardens. And the Inn Keepers are truly great people, very kind, helpful and most hospitable. This is truly a great place run by truly classy people. I wouldn't stay in any other place in this quaint little town!

There's nothing fancy here, but the owners are very friendly and the rooms far from the antiseptic, insert-brand-name-here type. The decor isn't neccesarily my style, but it's homey, scrupulously clean, and the gardens are lovely. It's also within walking distance of shops and restaurants. I've stayed here every time I've been in the area (several times since 1989), and highly recommend it. You can spend more money to stay in a fancier place--but why?

The room was very small and had an unpleasent oder and too many dust collectors. Any one with allergies should avoid it. When asking to change rooms,we were denied the same rate. We booked 4 nights and requested one less. They wouldn't refund cash, and offered only another night stay at another time. We were very nice about asking and didn't insult their property, The owners were very nice people, but we were very disapointed in the room and feel they could have tried a little harder to acommodate our requests. AAA listing stated NO PETS, This was false advertising. They allowed several dogs. We would definitly not go back.
